Vero Volley Monza, Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora and Sieco Service Ortona will try to finish their series off on the road while Cantù will have to chance to qualify at home as it won Game 1 away.
B-Chem Potenza Picena (9) – Vero Volley Monza (2). Potenza has already celebrated twice in its PalaPrincipi arena by beating Corigliano in two home games in the 8th o finals, and now it will try to tie the quarter-final series against Monza. The latter will have a chance to make it into its first semi-final in history. This would be sixth wins over Potenza is as many games this season.
Itely Milano (6) – Sieco Service Ortona (5). Bencz’ 29 points were not enough for Milan in game 1 in Ortona. Lanci’s men eventually clinched a tight encounter thanks to an excellent team display (18 points for Galliani, 17 for Cetrullo). Milan will try to beat Ortona for the first time this season (3 losses so far) to send the series to a deciding game 3. In the regular season, Cetrullo and co had won it at the tie-break in Milan.
Materdominivolley.it Castellana Grotte (8) – Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora (3). Castellana did everything possible to make it hard for Sora in game 1 pushing the first and third set to the wire but Sora came out on top as Cazzaniga’s 24 points were not enough. But the home court advantage can make the difference as Castellana had defeated Sora in their gym in the regular season.
Cassa Rurale Cantù (7) – Coserplast Openet Matera (4). Cantù made the surprise of game 1 by coming away from Matera with a 1-0 lead in the series. Matera had won both regular season games but this time Cantù dominated the net with 19 blocks (vs 5, Monguzzi had 6) and Morelli finished top scorer with 19 points.
