Latina in Challenge Cup final
On Wednesday March 26 at 8.30 in the PalaBianchini arena, Latina will play host to the Turkish side of Fenerbahce Grundig Istanbul in game 1 of the Challenge Cup final. Big hopes but big difficulty too for the Italians who face a team that counts various stars of International volleyball like spiker Leonel Marshall (former Piacenza and Roma player), Ivan Miljkovic (Played in Macerata and Roma) and Luiz Felipe Marques Fonteles (four seasons in Modena). As for coach Simoni, middle blocker Carmelo Gitto is doubtful due to an ankle sprain
Gianrio Falivene (President Andreoli Latina): “Hopefully, the high prize at stake will encourage everyone to play at their best. We still haven’t forgotten about last season’s disappointment. This time we want to do what we did not do in the CEV Cup. Coincidentally we’re going back to Turkey. We do not forget that we took part because others turned it down, and fate sent us right back where we had left off last season, with the bitter taste of a final lost”.
FORMULA
Home and away game plus the Golden Set if needed. There is a golden set if both teams have the same number of points. Three points are given for 3-0 or 3-1 wins, 2 for a tie-break win, 1 for a tie-break defeat.
