TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Trinidad De Haro, Steuerwald 5, Plot, Randazzo 3, Farina (L), Forni 9, Cisolla 9, Villena 1, Crer 12, Gavotto 22, Ogurcak 13. DNP Presta. Coach. Blengini.

In a thrilling game, Modena got back on track. They had lost in the fifth set three times but this time they had the upper-hand in the tie-break at the expense of Vibo. The latter was so close to a 2-0 lead but instead Modena turned things around at 2-1 an had ad 16-12 lead in the third on its way to victory. But there were more twists and turns to come. Bartman was key in the tie-break. MVP: Manià.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Casa Modena): “These have been ten very difficult days for us. And the club issues have nothing to do with it. We had players with the flu and we never trained as we’d have liked to. I don’t think we’re that bad, as we showed today. We should not play with fear. Once again we did not give up and won the tie-break. Kovacevic? He hardly trained 15 minutes with the group, but I left him on court, even without attacking. I want to thank the medical staff, the athletic trainer, and the physiotherapist for the work done with Uros”.

Gianlorenzo Blengini (Coach Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “I’m still struggling to accept what happened in the second set, but given how it went after that we can be happy with the point taken. We’re building our identity right now, we have to improve to be more solid when it matters”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 1-3 (28-26, 23-25, 24-26, 12-25)

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 5, Paolucci 3, Petric 11, Giovi (L), Cupkovic 3, Barone 5, Della Lunga 3, Mitic, Vujevic 5, Atanasijevic 21, Fanuli (L), Semenzato. DNP Della Corte. Coach. Kovac.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Le Roux 7, Papi 16, Fei 15, Kaliberda 14, Simon 17, Tencati, Vettori 6, De Cecco 1. DNP Partenio, Smerilli, Zlatanov, Husaj. Coach. Monti.

Paicenza came away from Perugia with a four-set victory at the end of an entertaining game, especially in the first three sets. MVP Simon and Kaliberda were the main architects of this victory.

Dore Della Lunga (Sir Safety Perugia): “We played a good game, at least until the fourth set. I think the fans enjoyed some good volleyball. We have been a bit naïve in the second set when we threw away a six-point lead, but you have to give credit to Piacenza and Simon for his run of serves. But it’s obvious that against teams like Piacenza, if you want to get anything, you have to make the most of those situations”.

Alessandro Fei (Copra Elior Piacenza): “The crowd enjoyed a good game. Perugia played very well for three sets. It’s always been very close, they made it real hard for us. I think the key of the game was our come-back in the second set”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – ALTOTEVERE CITTÀ DI CASTELLO 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-20) – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Henno (L), Paparoni, Zaytsev 16, Patriarca 5, Kovar 14, Kurek 11, Baranowicz 5, Podrascanin 15. DNP Stankovic, Monopoli, Giombini. Coach. Giuliani.

ALTOTEVERE CITTà DI CASTELLO: Franceschini 1, Fromm 11, Corvetta, Dolfo 6, Sartoretti 1, Massari, Tosi (L), Piano 7, Van Walle 8, Rossi 7, Marchiani. DNP Carminati, Lensi. Coach. Radici.

Giuliani’s men made it five straight victories in the league, 8 including the Champions League, with a sweep over Città di Castello. They will therefore enjoy the two-week break looking at the others from above as they count a four-point advantage on Piacenza. Still without Parodi, Macerata also rested Dragan Stankovic who became dad for the second time just before the game, but that did not stop them from being at their usual best at the net: 17 blocks all together.

Marko Podrascanin (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Good victory, we might not have played at our best but we took three very important points which confirms once again we’re on the right track. This win goes to Sara Stankovic, who became part of our Macerata family today. Dragan was rested and I stayed on court with Stefano Patriarca, who proved he was a top class middle blocker. We are a team that can count on the bench too. Now the break will be an opportunity to train well and improve further our level of play”.

Ludovico Dolfo (Altotevere Città di Castello): “We hanged in there for a big part of each set against a team like Macerata, but then their strength at the serve made the difference. Still, we played well, we gave it our best shot, we could even have taken the third set. That’s a good progress compared to the last road game against Molfetta, especially in the overall attitude”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-23)

ANDREOLI LATINA: Candellaro, Rossini (L), Gitto 11, Sottile 2, Skrimov 7, Verhees 9, Paris, Noda Blanco, Fragkos 9, Torres 15. DNP De Rocco, Michalovic, Tailli. Coach. Santilli.

EXPRIVIA MOLFETTA: Piscopo 8, Mazzone 5, Izzo, Del Vecchio 1, Cesarini (L), De Marchi, Sabbi 9, Zanuto 10, Blagojevic 3, Casoli 5, Saitta 1. DNP Fornés Jul. Coach. Cichello.

Latina thrashed Molfetta and took its first three points of the season. MVP Maurice Torres

Maurice Torres (Andreoli Latina): “This is a victory obtained as a team. We had a great game, our serve got better and better, we did not make all the mistakes we had in previous games: this time it went in and we won it. Today is a new day, we have to look ahead without looking at what happened in the past”.

Davide Saitta (Exprivia Molfetta): “We knew we had a wounded team in front of us, ready to launch an assault on their opponent. We struggled at the start of the game, that put us under pressure and we made too many mistakes. It’s no excuse but we were physically not in great shape, but that has influenced the mental aspect more than the physical”.
