Trentino keeps rushing past their opponents: this time they inflicted a 3-0 to the Turkish side of Izmir on their own soil. Thanks to this win, Serniotti’s men remain unbeaten, stay top of the group and make one little more step towards the Playoffs 12. Suxho had another good day and the spikers took advantage. MVP: Ferreira

Roberto Serniotti (coach Trentino Diatec): “We had a convincing performance, we were concentrated in everything we did and took three valuable points. I am therefore extremely satisfied with my team, they really let little space to operate to the opponent and they never relaxed. With such an accurate reception, everything becomes easier, credit to Suxho as well who guided his spikers very well. This is the performance we needed to save our energy and be galvanized for Sunday’s game against Macerata”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – LOKOMOTIV NOVOSIBIRSK 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 29-27, 22-25, 15-12) – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Henno (L), Paparoni, Zaytsev 17, Stankovic 8, Patriarca, Kovar 17, Monopoli, Kurek 21, Baranowicz 2, Podrascanin 16. LOKOMOTIV NOVOSIBIRSK: Divis 13, Volvich 6, Moroz 25, Zhilin, Butko 5, Golubev (L), Camejo 10, Astashenkov 6. DNP Zubkov, Mysin, Kozlov, Leonenko. Coach. Voronkov.

The heart of Macerata had the better of the European Champions of Novosibirsk in front of a nearly sold out crowd at the PalaFontescodella arena. The Italians went ahead in the scoreboard twice but the Russians fought back on each occasion to obtain a tie-break. But Macerata’s fighting spirit led to an extremely valuable win which means Giuliani’s boys remain unbeaten after three rounds and stay top ahead of the two Russian sides. Kurek led the way with 21 points and 58% in attack with a superb tie-break. Kovar added 17 (58% too).

Alberto Giuliani (Coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We have made the most of our two home games against the Russians, maybe we could have done a little better today but Novosibirsk is a top class team, and this was a game played at a very high level without many mistakes. We could have done better blocking. This win is so important, we know that from now on the games will be twice as hard: we’ll play home against the Austrians having to win at all cost, and on the road against the two Russians. The team does have character this is the start of the season, so we still have a lot of work on but this is a great basis to work on”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – CHEMES HUMENNE 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21)

ANDREOLI LATINA: Candellaro 3, Rossini (L), Gitto 4, Sottile 3, Skrimov 5, Verhees 7, Paris, Noda Blanco 2, Fragkos 15, Torres 15. DNP De Rocco, Michalovic. Coach. Santilli.

Latina won the second round first leg of the Challenge Cup in straight sets against the Slovakian team of Chemes Humennè. It was one-way traffic for the first two sets for the hosts who proved they had no intention to give anything away at the start of the third.

Roberto Santilli (Coach Andreoli Latina): “We had a good start in this competition, it was not easy against an unknown team and after two defeats in the league. This game was important to prepare the coming match against Vibo Valentia. We are alive, we have to find our confidence and rhythm to keep improving. The return leg will not be a walk in the park, but I am confident”.
