European cups

2014 DenizBank Champions League

The Champions League will take a month break after this week’s third round as the Grand Champions Cup will take place in Tokyo from November 19 to 24. Trento will travel to Turkey to take on Izmir in a top versus bottom game. Macerata will play Wednesday too, but at home against the European Champions of Novosibirsk. The Italians upset Kazan in the first round and will try another Russian scalp to stay perfect. Giuliani’s boys will do everything to win as the return games will take them twice to Russia. On Thursday, it will be Piacenza’s turn with a home game against the Bulgarian side of Marek Union-Ivkoni Dupnitsa. Beaten last week at the tie-break by Tours, Monti’s men will try to get back on top of the group despite the absence of Zlatanov (wrist). The Bulgarians have yet to get a point.
