2013 Champions League

On the eve of the big event

On Saturday the champions League Final Four will kick off in Omsk, Russia. Cuneo arrived yesterday and trained this afternoon in the Athletic Compex V.Blinov, the venue of the final four. In the afternoon, they will take on the Polish side of  Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, which had last reached this stage of the competition ten years ago. The team is coached by the Argentine Daniel Castellani and assistant Sebastian Swiderski, who played in Italy at Perugia and Macerata, and won the Gazzetta Award in 2005.

“We are ready for the semi-final against Cuneo – said Swiderski – They have a great team, good serve and a perfect organization on court as well as an incisive attack. The Italians are the favourite of the game, but we have some quality too. The aim now is to get all the players ready, mentally and physically”.

“Qualifying for the final four of the most important European competition was an incredible feeling – said spiker Earvin Ngapeth – This is the first time for me as well as for the club. We’ll go there and try to win it. I consider this game less difficult than the one of the playoffs 6 against Macerata. If we play with maximum determination, I am certain we will make it to the final”.
