SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (30-32, 22-25, 15-25)
SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Van Harskamp, Petric 8, Daldello, Giovi (L), Tomassetti 7, Schwarz 1, Tamburo 9, Vujevic 17, Edgar 1, Semenzato 3. DNP Alletti, Van Rekom, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.
CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Pajenk 3, Savani 2, Zaytsev 17, Parodi 12, Stankovic 8, Henno (L), Travica 4, Kooy 8, Podrascanin 9. DNP Lampariello, Monopoli, Randazzo, Starovic. Coach. Giuliani.
The Italian champions came back from Perugia with all three points. Trento had been the only team to win there so far. Parodi was named MVP as Macerata continues to impress (15 blocks versus 3). Vujevic did shine for Perugia but the other spikers struggled on high balls.
Nemanja Petric (Sir Safety Perugia): “Unfortunately today we did not play at our best, we were not sharp in counter attack and at the net, even if it’s always difficult to play against Macerata. Shame we lost the first set, we had our chance, who knows, it could have changed the game”.
Hubert Henno (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We came here to take three points and that’s what we did. Now we’ll focus on the next three games, and especially on the Champions League, which is one of our targets. As for the match, it has to be said that we dangerously faded in the first set when we were ahead. Perugia did a good job to take advantage but we did even better to hang on and win it”.
COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-18)
COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Papi 9, Fei 15, Simon 6, Zlatanov 11, Holt 12, Tencati, De Cecco 1. DNP Latelli, Tavana, Corvetta, Maruotti, Vettori. Coach. Monti.
BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Antonov 8, Marchisio (L), Ngapeth 10, De Pandis (L), Galliani, Wijsmans 7, Kohut 3, Grbic 2, Della Lunga, Sokolov 11, Rossi 1. DNP Abdelaziz. Coach. Piazza.
In a packed PalaBanca, and with the presence in the stand of the Italian national team coach Mauro Berruto, Piacenza registered a third consecutive victory. After Modena, Piacenza gets rid of another of the top teams of the league with Cuneo. MVP: Fei.
Samuele Papi (Copra Elior Piacenza): “We are extremely happy with this nice victory. Cuneo is not only a great team but it had beaten Trento last week. It went better than expected for us, nobody expected a 3-0. Besides the score, I really liked how we went in crescendo in every area of the game. Our serve is getting better little by little, If we can keep the ball away, the blocking works consequently better”.
Roberto Piazza (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “A very strange encounter, I’ve seen my players a little tense, we probably expected a different game given the recent run we had. I disagree with many referee decisions, but one thing I don’t accept is the way we lost our way in the third set when we were four points ahead”.
TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 0-3 (15-25, 22-25, 21-25) TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 2, Cortellazzi, Kaliberda 6, Lavia 1, Farina (L), Forni 8, Rocamora 2, Badawy 2, Buti 1, Klapwijk 3, Barone 3, Urnaut 12. DNP Montesanti. Coach. Blengini.
BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Paparoni (L), Falaschi 1, Dolfo, Sabbi 16, Ferreira 12, Yosifov 8, Cester 10, Casoli 8. DNP Menzel, Elia, Ricciardello, Ferreira, Krumins. Coach. Gulinelli.
A disastrous performance for Vibo Valentia in its home arena against Castellana Grotte, who dominated for most of the encounter. MVP and top scorer: Sabbi.
Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “The first set is just impossible to comment, we just didn’t play. I changed all six players because we were totally paralised. Then we played slightly better, playing worse was impossible to be honest, but that was not enough to turn things around. Castellana is full of confidence right now, they believed in their chance, they could see we were struggling and they did not let that opportunity go by”.
Falvio Gulinelli (coach BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “I am happy for my players, we’re doing well right now and we proved that tonight, I think we deserved the win. We told ourselves we had to be focused from the start, like we did in recent games, and that paid off. It’s true the Vibo players gave us a hand until the first time-out, but then we did a good job of keeping control of the game. Even when they came-back and were ahead in the scoreboard, we did well to stay calm, especially at the start of the first set”.
CMC RAVENNA – CASA MODENA 0-3 (19-25, 18-25, 22-25) – CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 8, Owens 2, Zhukouski 1, Psarras 1, Sirri 2, Tabanelli (L), Mazzotti (L), Di Franco 5, Zanuto 9, Moro, Bellei 13. DNP Radunovic, Pelekoudas. Coach. Fresa.
CASA MODENA: Catellani (L), Sala 2, Donadio 1, Deroo 13, Quesque 6, Celitans 20, Casadei 6, Vesely 6, Baranowicz 2, Piscopo. DNP Pinelli, Kovacevic. Coach. Lorenzetti.
As expected on the eve of the game, Modena ran away with a straight set victory in Forlì. Ravenna gave it a fight in the second and third set but in the end they paid the price for a weak reception and the lack of impact at the net.
Mauro Fresa (coach CMC Ravenna): “Unfortunately, when you continuously have to call players off the bench to sort things out, things becomes very difficult. I thought I could have pushed the game beyond the third set, but to be honest, we would have needed more consistency on the serve”.
Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Casa Modena): “We have had a lot of injuries of late, hopefully Manià’s problem will be nothing serious, but that’s another reason why this victory was an important one. It went rather well, I am satisfied with the performance of the team”.
