BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 40-38)

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Antonov 15, Ngapeth 16, De Pandis (L), Wijsmans 16, Kohut 10, Grbic 2, Della Lunga, Sokolov 15, Abdelaziz, Rossi. DNP Marchisio, Galliani. Coach. Piazza.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Rauwerdink 15, Rossini (L), Sottile, Jarosz 17, Patriarca 8, Verhees 5, Troy 1, Noda Blanco 8, Cisolla, Fragkos 1, Guemart 1. DNP Gitto, Prandi. Coach. Prandi.

After a month on the road, Cuneo played home and celebrated a 3-0 victory on Latina. Crazy third set going to 40 points. MVP: Earvin NGapeth.

Massimiliano Giaccardi (Ass coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “It was a good game, we’re taking three important points. We started off a bit under par, but then we stepped up. We have played with determination, especially in the third set, in which we have seen a team fighting on every play”.

Daniele Sottile (Andreoli Latina): “Shame because this was a tight encounter. We just lacked that extra push at the end of sets. A couple of plays made the difference. They have done a better job of sealing the sets. They have been more composed in the clutch time”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 0-3 (25-27, 21-25, 11-25)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Rak, Kosmina, Ter Horst 7, Gotsev 6, Meoni, Pesaresi (L), Gavotto 1, Peacock 1, Viafara 9, Fedrizzi 12, De Marchi 2. DNP Bolla, Centomo. Coach. Bagnoli.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Alletti 8, Petric 21, Daldello 3, Giovi (L), Tomassetti, Schwarz 1, Tamburo 1, Vujevic 6, Edgar 12, Semenzato 9. DNP Van Rekom, Van Harskamp, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.

In front of 2320 supporters, Verona had to surrender despite a good first set. Poor third set from the hosts, lacking fighting spirit as the stats confirm.

Michele Fedrizzi (Marmi Lanza Verona): “Same result as against Ravenna. I think I had a good game: I have not done too well on the serve but I gave my all in attack and reception. We did everything we could but we still have a lot of work on”.

Thomas Edgar (Sir Safety Perugia): “It was very important to win this game for me, it’s never easy to win on the road. The whole team worked well to take those three points. Hopefully, there will be more of the same”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-21)

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 14, Sintini, Birarelli 9, Juantorena 12, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Uchikov, Lanza 1, Djuric 8, Colaci (L), Stokr 12, Chrtiansky Jr 3, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 1. Coach. Stoytchev.

ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO: Fiore 9, Van Den Dries 5, Mc Kibbin, Coali 1, Cesarini (L), Bohme 1, Torre 2, De Togni 2, Maric 6, Lo Bianco (L), Cebulj 13. DNP Gradi, Mattioli. Coach. Fenoglio.

Trento bounced back following their defeats against Modena and Moscow in the last 8 days. The world champions had the better of San Giustino, which seemed to give up far too easily. The hosts built their victory on good serving: Kaziyski (MVP) had 5 aces and Juantorena 3.

Jan Stokr (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It’s been a rather easy game, we did a good job of taking charge from the start. It was important to win again and do so convincingly. We’re physically fine, we just need to work on a couple of fundamentals before Wednesday’s game”.

Paolo Torre (Altotevere San Giustino) “Playing in the Trento arena is always nice, even more so when the two groups of fans are close and united by twinning. Shame we never gave them the opportunity to exult but in front of us we had an opponent that wanted to get back to winning at all cost, extremely determined, especially at the serve”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-17)

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello (L), Pajenk 2, Zaytsev 10, Stankovic 9, Henno, Travica 1, Starovic 14, Kooy 13, Podrascanin 2. DNP Parodi, Monopoli, Tartaglione. Coach. Giuliani.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 8, Owens 6, Zhukouski 3, Psarras, Sirri 3, Tabanelli (L), Zanuto 9, Moro 13, Bellei, Pelekoudas 5. DNP Mazzotti, Di Franco, Radunovic. Coach. Fresa.

Fifth consecutive victory for Macerata in the league. It stays top of the league tied with Trento thanks to a sweep of Ravenna as it could use its bench to rest some players for Wednesday’s important Champions League playoffs 12 return leg against Reszow. Lampariello was lined up as libero instead of Henno and did not disappoint with 73% in reception. MVP: Kooy (69% in attack for 13 points).

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Tonight we needed the three points, and fortunately the first set was tight, which got our focus back on this game rather than Wednesday’s Champions League tie. It was one of those tricky games because of the focus that was obviously slightly gone towards our match with the Polish team, even if that should not have been the case. The turnover helped, I wanted to give some rest to Henno and Parodi. They really needed it. Mission accomplished, now we can concentrate on the game against Reszow.

Tsimafei Zhukouski (CMC Ravenna): “We have lost 3-0 but I think we can be satisfied with what we have achieved on court. Impossible to think we could come here and beat Macerata, this game was mainly a test for us to see what we are capable of in certain situations and to improve ahead of coming games in which we will have a real chance of winning. Today I’d say we overcame the exam”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 0-3 (27-29, 31-33, 19-25)

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 1, Cortellazzi, Kaliberda, Farina (L), Forni, Rocamora, Badawy 7, Buti 10, Klapwijk 18, Barone 3, Urnaut 13. DNP Montesanti, Lavia. Coach. Blengini.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Papi 3, Fei 19, Simon 14, Zlatanov 17, Holt 6, Tencati 1, Maruotti, De Cecco 2. DNP Latelli, Corvetta, Ogurcak, Vettori. Coach. Monti.

Piacenza prevailed in an intense and spectacular game in Vibo Valentia. The hosts played brilliant volleyball at times but Piacenza proved more clinical as they tallied 19 points from blocks and aces.

Manuel Coscione (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We played brilliantly in the first two sets, we played top level volley and were ahead several times. They served very strong, we knew they were dangerous on the serve and at the net on high balls, while we found it hard on the counter, but to be honest the referees really did not help, some decisions made on important points definitely penalized us. This can happen, mistakes are part of the game, but that would be better if that did not happen in such important moment of games”.

Samuele Papi (Copra Elior Piacenza): “This long first set we won was crucial, we got off to a good start in the second, but then we should have stayed focus. We faded halfway and Vibo got back in it. Luckily, at the end of the set we showed the kind of character that could be useful for future games. In the third set, Vibo was left without energy, losing two hard-fought sets like that would have discouraged anyone. We managed to stay focused and win it”.
