Modena is ready to welcome cup winners Trentino and the Italian champions of Macerata as the two teams will fight it out for the first official game and trophy of the 2012-13 season: the Italian Super Cup. The new Mikasa ball, the MVA200, will be used for the first time in this event organized by the Italian Volleyball League, together with the Fipav Region Committee of Emilia Romagna and the Modena Fipav Provincial committee. The Sport Moles system will be used but the “Video Check”, which the Italian league is developing, will also be tested. The Giacomo Sintini Association will be the special guest of this event, as they gather some funds for the cancer research and spread a positive message of hope.

Since his arrival in 2007-08, RADOSTIN STOYTCHEV (Itas Diatec Trentino) won two league titles, two Italian cups, one Super Cup, three Champions League and three World Championships (Trento will defend its title in Doha, Qatar, in just a few days. Stoytchev has won everything there was to win and will now try to retain the title following the first ever Super Cup victory last season in Cagliari.

ALBERTO GIULIANI (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata) will take part in its second Super Cup tomorrow. He won the trophy back in 2010 with Cuneo in front of 4600 fans in Turin. As Macerata coach, Giuliani brought back home the league title which had been missing since 2006 by beating Trentino in the V-Day last 22nd of April in Milan.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I am happy to have all my players available for this first event. We have worked especially well in this last week with Stokr and Djuric in the group. We still need to find our rhythm but I think this is normal at this stage of the season. We’ll do everything possible to take the cup home, which is as important as any other trophy for us. We’ll need a little something extra to win it because Macerata is a superb team  and we know we’ll need a great game to come out on top. We are therefore curious to see what we can do against them. It will be a great game”.

Alberto Giuliani (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We’ll start over from this Super Cup. Very little seems to have changed but we said goodbye to Igor Omrcen and welcomed an important player in Ivan Zaytsev. Our game is totally different with him even if we can count on Sasa Starovic, our only real outside hitter in the squad. It will be Macerata versus Trento tomorrow but in the league there won’t be only those two teams, but many others that will aim high. The club said it wanted to win everything, we’ll try to make things happen in the Super Cup”.
