On Wednesday night, Molfetta will have a chance to seal its series against Città di Castello and reach a historical final for a club that was newly promoted in the division last summer. At least two more games will be needed in the other semi-final between Castellana Grotte and Segrate. The series is tied at 1-1, if each team was to win one of the two next game, a deciding fifth encounter would be on.
BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte – Crazy Diamond Segrate. A tight series was expected and so far the early impressions confirm that verdict with one win apiece. Segrate managed to cancel Castellana’s advantage gained on a better regular season position. Game 2 was a never-ending affair which went all the way to the wire. Castellana did have a match point at 14-13, cancelled by Segrate which clinched it 16-14. Still, Castellana proved they were well alive and kicking by being close to win away. Rodriguez and co will try to take revenge on home soil before going on the road for game 4.
Pallavolo Molfetta – Gherardi SVI Città di Castello. Match point for Molfetta. The big surprise of the season is one home win away against Città di Castello from an unprecedented final. In March they went very close from the Cup final, now they have another chance to make history. Without the foreigners Noda Blanco and Lehtonen, coach Radici should count on Vigilante and Di Benedetto, as well as Rosalba’s experience to try to make the breakthrough to win in Molfetta like they had done in the league.
