Semi-finals game 2
The semi-final series will begin this Sunday with Castellana Grotte and Molfetta starting off with a 1-0 thanks to their better regular season position. They respectively face Segrate and Città di Castello, who both avoided game 5 in their quarter-finals.
Crazy Diamond Segrate – BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte. It’s expected to be a tight and thrilling series between the two teams that met in the Cup final in March (Castellana won). In the previous round, Segrate got rid of Sora, while Castellana had the better of Loreto. However, Di Pinto’s team found it very hard, they needed the tie-break on both away games. Castellana will be without Milushev, who’s on international duty, but new signing Tavares will take his place as he arrived in Italy after the elimination of his Cimed Sky team in the Brazilian playoffs.
Gherardi SVI Città di Castello – Pallavolo Molfetta. Città di Castello made it into the semi-finals for the second time running. They swept Milan in the previous round while Molfetta showed all the exuberance of a newly promoted team to get that far in its first year in the A2. They are ready to surprise again as they had already made it into the cup semi-final. Lehtonen and Noda Blanco are on International duty and won’t take part. Two young Italians will substitute them: Cristian Vigilante and Giovanni Di Benedetto. As for Molfetta, they will be without Colombian spiker Carlos Alomia Angulo.
