Three tight series in A2 playoffs quarters
Only Città di Castello managed to seal its quarter-final series so far by sweeping Milan, making it into its second consecutive semi-final. All the other series are still in the balance. They have reached game 4 with Castellana, Segrate and Molfetta ahead 2-1. Loreto, Sora and Genova will try to force a decider.
Crazy Diamond Segrate – Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora. The 1-0 advantage given to the best classified at the end of the regular season was of little use to Sora so far. They have lost twice, are trailing against Segrate, and could be out of the competition Sunday. Segrate is hoping for its first semi-final in the club’s history.
Energy Resources Carilo Loreto – BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte. Loreto’s win in Castellana in game 3 has probably been the most surprising result of all. They earned another game in their PalaSerenelli arena, where they will attempt another breakthrough to have a chance to play for qualification in game 5.
Carige Genova – Pallavolo Molfetta. Genova had tied the series at home but was then severely defeated in Molfetta to fall 2-1 behind. Still, Genova proved this season they were tough to beat on home soil. Molfetta has its first match point to make the special feat of going into a semi-final as a newly promoted side.

Playout final game 3
Cicchetti Isernia – Edilesse Conad Reggio Emilia. Isernia is close to salvation. Fant’s boys started off the series with a 1-0 advantage and won game 2 in Reggio Emilia. One more win is needed to stay up in the A2, while Reggio is forced to win three in a row in order not to go down. Not easy, the first one is in Isernia this Sunday.
