Piacenza sweeps Roma
COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – M. ROMA VOLLEY 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19)
COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Kral, Papi 8, Zhekov 2, Nikolov 19, Kampa, Zlatanov 15, Holt 8, Tencati 6. Non entrati Sidibé, Massari, De Oliveira, Binaghi. Coach. Monti.
M. ROMA VOLLEY: Lebl 4, Paolucci, Paparoni (L), Zaytsev 15, Boninfante, Bencz 6, Sabbi 9, Cisolla 4, Bjelica 6. Non entrati Passier, Ottaviani, Puliti, Corsano. Coach. Giani.
Piacenza was keen to get back to winning ways after the defeat against Belluno. And that was obvious from the very beginning: focused and determined, Piacenza escaped thanks to a great Papi and the touch of Zlatanov in the first set. Roma had no answers for Nikolov and co in the second and could not do much better in the third. Piacenza moves momentarily to fifth position.
Novica Bjelica (M. Roma Volley): “We’re in the same situation as Piacenza last season. We can’t seem to find our rhythm and we’re totally lacking confidence. Besides, Piacenza is physically very strong right now, they can beat anyone”.
Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “Roma was too inaccurate in attack, they did not manage to get back on track once we created a gap. They kept chasing, while we did well to escape on the scoreboard with Zlatanov first and then with Nikolov, they are champions and were both crucial for us”.
