SISLEY BELLUNO – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20)

SISLEY BELLUNO: Abdelaziz, Fei 26, Horstink 17, Dolfo, Farina (L), Kohut 11, De Togni 8, Suxho 4, Antonov 2, Ogurcak 9. DNP Szabò, Curti, Sorato. Coach. Piazza.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 7, Henno (L), Ngapeth 4, Fortunato 7, Wijsmans 10, Vissotto Neves 12, Grbic 4, Caceres 4, Patriarca 2, Baranowicz. DNP Vesely, Rossi, Pieri. Coach. Placì.

Belluno made it six in a row in the league by beating Cuneo, which it had already beaten in the cup quarter-finals a month ago. MVP: Fei.

Roberto Piazza (coach Sisley Belluno): “Very satisfied with this win. Good performance: in the second set we made up for the mistakes made in the first. The team got better and better of late, the results have come and the boys are aware of their worth. When Fei plays as Fei can play, he does us a lot of good, but I don’t want to forget anyone: all the players have contributed. Now we have some very tough games ahead; Wednesday in Modena, where the fans become the 8th man on court. And after that Piacenza, Trento and Macerata”.

Camillo Placì (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played against a great Belluno team, they had an excellent game. They deserved to win, they are getting stronger and stronger. As for us, we’re still a work in progress. We struggled against a team that was better than us in attack and block. They stepped up in the second and we did not react. They are led by Fei who’s playing at a very high level. There wasn’t much positive from this game for us. We’re going home without any points and we made a step back in the quality of our game. Hopefully, we’ll show some pride in the next games”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18) LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Exiga (L), Parodi 17, Stankovic 12, Kovar 12, Monopoli, Van Walle 2, Travica 4, Omrcen 10, Podrascanin 16. DNP Lampariello, Pajenk, Savani. Coach. Giuliani.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Rivera Caamano 8, Gitto 6, Sottile 3, Jarosz 16, De Pandis (L), Guemart, Troy 1, Diachkov 11, Cester 10, Fragkos 2. DNP Tailli, Galabinov. Coach. Prandi.

Macerata extended its winning streak and added to the recent victory over Modena by beating Latina. Thanks to the three points, they move up to second as Cuneo was defeated by Belluno. MVP: Podrascanin with 16 points, 89% in attack, 5 blocks and 3 aces.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Emotionally and physically this has been one of the toughest games of the season. We had many players with minor physical problems, which is why I really want to thank our medical staff, who worked very well in the past few days. We got off to an excellent start to the game, and that surprised me as well. We faded in the second which is understandable, because you have to keep in mind there was a good team on the other side of the net. Latina had the whole week to prepare the game. I think my team showed great character today following the European defeat against Trento, I can only be satisfied”.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): Macerata played better than us in every area of the game. They have served especially well which made things easier for them. Our level is what we’ve seen tonight, we could absolutely not have done any more against a team like Macerata”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (25-10, 20-25, 34-32, 25-15) ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 12, Birarelli 4, Della Lunga 1, Juantorena 16, Zygadlo 3, Vieira De Oliveira 3, Lanza 5, Sokolov 12, Djuric 7, Colaci (L), Stokr 12, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 3. Coach. Stoytchev.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Falasca 4, Coscione 2, Serafini, Cernic 16, Diaz 14, Rak 9, Klapwijk 13, Barone, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 6. DNP Mignolo, Grassano, Banderò. Coach. Blengini.

One more loss in Trento for Vibo Valentia, which put an end to a two-game winning streak. Vibo has never won in Trento in ten games.

Matey Kaziyski (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We should not have thought the game would have all gone easy like in the first set. In the second we struggled but we stepped up when needed, in the middle of the third. I am happy because these are three very important points”.

Luis Augusto Diaz (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “Trento plays spectacular volleyball and they can do that even when starters are rested. In the first set, Stoytchev’s moves surprised us a bit but from the second set on we managed to get in the game and have a say in it. Obviously, if we had won the third set, we could even have taken all three points and that should be our main disappointment. It’s also true that our opponent is not the kind to give you many opportunities”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-23)  COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Papi 8, Zhekov 3, Nikolov 15, Kampa, Zlatanov 20, Holt 8, Tencati 1. DNP Kral, Sidibé, Massari, De Oliveira, Marretta. Coach. Monti.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rossini (L), Zhukouski, Conte 2, Nikic 10, Forni 5, Buti 8, Rooney 9, De Cecco 4, Gavotto 7, Roumeliotis 1. DNP Ciabattini, Mckniff, Molteni. Coach. Zanini.

The gap between Monza and Piacenza went from 5 to 2 as the hosts won it in straight sets. MVP Zlatanov

Vladimin Nikolov (Copra Elior Piacenza): “Our main focus in this positive period is to play well and win. Piacenza is on the right track, we have to keep going with this rhythm. When we were going through a bad spell, our target was to eventually get a positive result, now we are much happier, but we’ll only look at the league table from the next home game”.

Luciano De Cecco (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “Piacenza did an excellent job in dig and was much better than us in counter attack. Zlatanov was perfect. We did not do well in dig and counter. We have to put more effort in for the coming games”.

FIDIA PADOVA – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-18)

FIDIA PADOVA: Garghella (L), Schwarz 10, Gonzalez 4, Koshikawa, De Marchi 9, Simeonov 17, Semenzato 6, Suljagic 8, Zingaro (L). DNP Tiberti, Cricca, Giannotti, Rosso. Coach. Montagnani.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 3, Leonardi 2, Bendandi, Corvetta 2, Sirri 3, Tabanelli (L), Verhanneman 5, Plesko 3, Moro 5, Brunner 4, Gruszka 1, Roberts 4. DNP Gallosti, Ricci. Coach. Babini.

Simeonov was elected MVP as he led Padova to an important straight set victory over Ravenna.

Paolo Montagnani (coach Fidia Padova): “Given today’s result, San Giustino’s surprise win in Modena hurt Ravennna’s hopes more than ours. We played a good game today and I am happy for Simeonov and Suljagic, who both played well. Now we’re going to Cuneo and Macerata, we’ll have nothing to lose. We’ll just play our game without fear and fight as usual to try to get something out of it”.

Simone Bendandi (CMC Ravenna): “I was surprised with the way we played today. This might have been our worse game of the season. We all expected a big performance but credit to Padova which did not let us play our game”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – MARMI LANZA VERONA 1-3 (25-27, 24-26, 25-21, 19-25)

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Lebl 5, Paparoni (L), Maruotti 6, Zaytsev 20, Boninfante 3, Bencz 12, Puliti, Sabbi 13, Bjelica 7. DNP Paolucci, Antonucci, Corsano, Cisolla. Coach. Giani.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Popp 9, Kosmina, Ter Horst, Calderan, Meoni 1, Smerilli (L), Patriarca 10, Zingel 12, Kromm 21, Postiglioni 3, Gasparini 14. DNP Casarin. Coach. Bagnoli.

Roma surrendered one more time, and this one is extremely bitter as it came on home soil.

Andrea Giani (coach M. Roma Volley): “We played three good sets, with the first two lost by the minimum margin. There has been a good reaction in the third, with Bencz doing a good job of settling immediately. In the fourth, we lacked energy to complete the come-back”.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “Given the situation we’re in, I have to say the boys have been fantastic. We played a good game against a team that is having evident difficulties. Now we have to get better and get the players back to full fitness because we had a few players training with major physical problems in the last few days. Special mention to Postiglioni, which helped us win the first two sets with his serves. He really deserves the congratulations”.
