Serie A1 Sustenium

Round 18

Serie A Sustenium, only Serie A league without postponed games: All the A1 and A2 games have been played regularly this weekend. The championships organised but the Italian Volleyball League Men have been the only one not to have suffered schedule modifications. “Organization, coordination and sense of responsibility, we are proud of our clubs” said CEO Massimo Righi.

CASA MODENA – FIDIA PADOVA 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 10, Dennis 16, Carletti, Kooy 5, Bellei, Esko 4, Martino 4, Anderson 13, Piscopo 11. DNP Catellani, Casoli, Bossi. Coach. Bagnoli.

FIDIA PADOVA: Schwarz 6, Gonzalez 6, Tiberti, Rosso 5, De Marchi 13, Simeonov 8, Semenzato 5, Suljagic 5, Zingaro (L). DNP Garghella, Cricca, Koshikawa, Giannotti. Coach. Montagnani.

Modena is back to winning and it does it emphatically with a sweep on Padova. In reality though, the game was tighter than the score suggests. MVP: Modena’s middle blocker Marco Cosimo Piscopo with 100% in attack and 6 blocks.

Daniele Bagnoli (coach Casa Modena): “I am satisfied with the win and also with the performance of the team, there has been good moments. Piscopo is really good in blocking, I am more surprised when he doesn’t get one. As for the team, we have various starting line up possible, I think the boys have understood that by now, we change often in training too. Now we’ll focus on the Trento game, there couldn’t be a better test than playing against the best before going into the Italian Cup”.

Andrea Semenzato (Fidia Padova): “We played a good game but Modena was stronger. We had a few ups and downs and against those teams you have to be constantly at your best and never make any mistakes. It is tight at the bottom, we’ll fight until the end”.

ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (21-25, 13-25, 17-25)

ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO: Creus Larry 5, Rauwerdink 4, Patak 11, Mc Kibbin 2, Cozzi 1, Finazzi, Petkovic, Giovi (L), Sammelvuo, Urnaut 12. DNP Tholse, Lo Bianco. Coach. Held.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 14, Della Lunga, Juantorena 15, Zygadlo, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Brinkman 9, Lanza, Sokolov 3, Colaci (L), Stokr 12, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 5. DNP Birarelli. Coach. Stoytchev.

Straight set defeat against Trento for Henk Jan Held on his coaching debut for San Giustino, who remains last from bottom. MVP: Juantorena.

Henk Jan Held (coach Energy Resources San Giustino): “Trento is obviously very strong. We gave it a fight up to 20 in the first set then they took over. They did not give us any chance to get back in the game. Even if we had played a brilliant game, we would still have had a very slim chance. But it’s true we could have done more”.

Jan Stokr (Itas Diatec Trentino): “This game was very important for us. Our good league position allows us to play better. We had a long trip, an intense weight session. Everything went very well”.

SISLEY BELLUNO – M. ROMA VOLLEY 3-2 (25-21, 25-18, 33-35, 22-25, 15-11)

SISLEY BELLUNO: Abdelaziz 1, Szabò, Fei 26, Horstink 19, Dolfo 1, Farina (L), Kohut 18, De Togni 7, Suxho 2, Antonov 1, Ogurcak 13. DNP Curti, Sorato. Coach. Piazza.

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Lebl 16, Passier, Paolucci 1, Paparoni (L), Maruotti 15, Zaytsev 17, Boninfante 2, Bencz 12, Sabbi 11, Cisolla, Bjelica 9. DNP Puliti, Corsano. Coach. Giani.

Maximum excitement between Belluno and Roma as the game lasted over two hours and ended with a Belluno tie-break win. Fei’s class, Kohut and MVP Ogurcak made the difference in the fifth.

Roberto Piazza (coach Sisley Volley): “To be honest, we did it all ourselves, be that at the start when we were focused and always aggressive, be that in the third, when we made it hard for ourselves with inaccuracies. We could have taken all three points but instead we lost one on the way. We have to be more consistent. We still have margin for improvement and we have to work to make it happen”.

Andrea Giani (coach M. Roma Volley): “A tight game, we struggled in the first and second set as they were aggressive on the serve, then we got back on track when Maruotti and Bencz came on. Shame we lost the tie-break, we conceded a break in the middle and we did not manage to get back. it’s been a tough period for us, some players are getting back to fitness, hopefully the hard work will pay off”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11) ANDREOLI LATINA: Rivera Caamano 8, Gitto 11, Sottile 2, Jarosz 27, De Pandis (L), Troy 2, Diachkov 1, Cester 10, Fragkos 24. DNP Guemart, Tailli. Coach. Prandi.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rossini (L), Nikic 19, Forni 6, Molteni 10, Buti 8, Rooney 5, De Cecco 6, Gavotto 14, Shumov, Roumeliotis 5. DNP Ciabattini, Kaszap. Coach. Zanini.

Back to back wins for Latina, which overcame Monza in the tie-break at the end of a thrilling encounter. MVP: Fragkos.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “At the end of the day, the important thing is that we gathered another victory. It’s been a roller coaster game, especially for the outside hitters who did not find consistency in attack. Fragkos played his best game of the season, he’s young and he’s starting to show all his potential”.

Marco Molteni (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “We played poorly, especially at the net and in dig, which usually are our strengths. They did a good job on the break and we could only get a point”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-2 (19-25, 15-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-13)

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 11, Henno (L), Ngapeth 14, Fortunato 4, Wijsmans 9, Vissotto Neves 18, Caceres, Vesely 7, Baranowicz 1. DNP Van Lankvelt, Patriarca, Izzo, Pieri. Coach. Placì.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Savani 12, Exiga (L), Parodi 14, Stankovic 9, Kovar 3, Monopoli, Van Walle 1, Travica 4, Omrcen 17, Podrascanin 11. DNP Pajenk. Coach. Giuliani.

Cuneo tricked Macerata and caught them in the league table. More significantly, this is the second time in three days that Cuneo has the better of Macerata after the Champions League playoffs 12 first leg. Besides, this came at the end of a superb come-back from 2 sets down.

Hubert Henno (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We believed in our chance until the end, no matter what was the score. We knew we could do it, and we did well never to give up. In the tie-break we showed all our character and heart, and we obtained a victory that will give us confidence”.

Simone Parodi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I am furious, it’s ridiculous to lose like that. I just don’t understand what happens to us every time. We stop playing for no reason and we start to make silly mistakes on simple things. That’s what happened tonight for the umpteenth time”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – CMC RAVENNA 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Popp 11, Kosmina 1, Ter Horst, Calderan, Meoni 3, Smerilli (L), Patriarca 9, Zingel 6, Casarin 1, Kromm 18, Gasparini 23. DNP Postiglioni. Coach. Bagnoli.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 10, Leonardi, Corvetta 1, Sirri 8, Tabanelli (L), Verhanneman, Gallosti, Moro 23, Brunner 14, Gruszka 11. Coach. Babini.

Three thousand fans came despite the horrible weather conditions and celebrated Verona’s win in coach Bagnoli’s two hundredth game on the bench. Gasparini and Kromm stood out as the team redeemed itself after the Padova loss. 11 blocks and 7 aces for Verona.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “I am extremely happy because there is a great atmosphere here in Verona, it’s fantastic to see all those people coming on court at the end of the game. We played well against a team that had no pressure and played loose. They did very well on the serve in the first three sets and things were more difficult than expected. We had a chance to seal it at 3-0 but they deserved to stay in the game. I want to congratulate my players who got the results thanks to their concentration and consistency”.

Matteo Tabanelli (CMC Ravenna): “We tried our best, our intention was to come here and fight and that’s what we did. Verona did a good job in the clutch time. As long as we have a mathematic chance we will fight to stay up”.
