Itas Diatec Trentino – Casa Modena and Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo – Lube Banca Marche Macerata
Modena and Macerata were the last to get their tickets to the semi-finals on Wednesday and Thursday in game 5. We’re now getting closer to the V-Day in Roma of the 15th of May as the holders, Cuneo, will take on Macerata, while Trentino will face Modena.

Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We had ten days to prepare ourselves for this semi-final and we have been able to do some good physical work. Now that we know the name of our opponent we have two days left to prepare ourselves tactically. We know it will be Macerata, but it does not matter who will be on the other side of the net, we have to play on our strengths: we have top quality players and we are prepared to fight right until the end. We know it will be a long and difficult series but we’ll do everything possible to reach our target: which is to go to Roma”.
Cristian Savani (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We still feel the excitement of this great quarter-final game 5 against Treviso, and to be able to play this semi-final game 1 makes me very happy because I know that morally, and not only, we’ll be able to benefit from the last encounter against Treviso. Cuneo is an extremely strong team, it’s not new, it will be up to us to play at a top level again. On Wednesday, we realised even more what were the ability of the boys and that they are capable of beating anyone. The first game of a best-of-five series cannot be considered decisive, but it’s still very important, because a good start could work in the favour of the team that gets it”.
Itas Diatec Trentino – Casa Modena

Osmany Juantorena (Itas Diatec Trentino): “This will be a top level semi-final, it will be a great show. Our two victories of the regular season do not matter anymore. Modena has totally changed since those two 3-0 wins. They might come to Trento a bit tired but extremely up for it after eliminating a top team like Monza. The addition of Bruno has definitely been important, the Brazilian is a top class player who can assist the middle blockers more often, making their game faster and more unpredictable. Getting the pass to the V-Day will therefore not be easy but we have what it takes to make it: especially with our serve. If we can serve well, our work at the net will be easier. We have to prove we’re stronger, not only with stats and past results”.
Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “They will logically be the favourites, we all know how strong is Trento. We have to play with our heads: the players must be conscious they will have to play at the maximum of their potential. If everyone play at his best and do it together, then we can make it hard for them and have our chance. It will be important to receive well from their best servers. Hopefully, we’ll have a lot of supporters in Trento in such an important game”.

Playoffs quarter-finals
Carige Genova and Volley Segrate fight it out in game 5
Only one name remains unknown for the playoffs semi-final in the A2. Padova’s hopes to go up are still alive following their Game 4 victory over Sora. Padova will either meet Genova or Segrate in the semis, as this quarter-final clash have gone all the way to the decisive 5th encounter. Genova began the series with a 1-0 lead thanks to its better regular season position but were beaten twice by Segrate, before sending the series even in Game 4.
