Serie A1 SUSTENIUM

Round 18

Trento wins a tough battle against Monza and stays unbeaten. Treviso wins in Cuneo and Macerata gets closer to second place. Forlì, Latina, Verona and Modena ok.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – ANDREOLI LATINA 1-3 (25-16, 23-25, 22-25, 17-25)

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Rivera Caamano 10, Coscione 5, Suljagic 5, Anderson 12, Ferraro, Simeonov 23, Barone 10, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 1. DNP Feroleto, Kindgard, Baroti. Coach. Di Pinto.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Kovacevic 21, Kohut 8, Gitto, Sottile 1, Pieri (L), Spairani 11, Vujevic 11, Starovic 16. DNP Popelka, Cortina, Nonne, Labardi. Coach. Medei.

The game lasted only one set. After losing the first set, Medei’s team totally dominated their opponent away from home.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Coach Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We played a good first set, extremely concentrated, but from the second on the team lost its way. We’ll start preparing the Modena game from Tuesday”.

Giampaolo Medei (Coach Andreoli Latina): “My players did not put their heads down after the first set, it found the strength to fight back. We started to play well, and got a victory to get away from the danger zone”.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 1-3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25)

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO: Zhukouski 2, Van Den Dries 6, Schwarz 12, Dias 20, Giovi (L), Finazzi 9, Nikic 6, Braga, Lo Bianco, Maric 9, Cester 6. DNP Steuerwald. Coach. Zanini.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Savani 14, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio 1, Conte 17, Stankovic 9, Martino, Van Walle 21, Podrascanin 8. DNP Marchiani, Vadeleux, Cacchiarelli, Omrcen. Coach. Berruto.

Despite being without Omrcen, Macerata won 3-1 in San Giustino.

Enrico Cester (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “We have lost three consecutive games like at the beginning of the season, but we are a different team now. It was more difficult against Cuneo and Trento compared to Macerata. We played better and we missed out on the tie-break for just a point. But no regrets”.

Cristian Savani (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We play well the first two sets and then we always have a dip, and tonight we ran the risk of going the distance. Omrcen is an important player for us, but Van Walle played well. San Giustino is not a team against which we should go to the tie-break. We have to ponder over the mistakes made and focus on the next games”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 1-3 (20-25, 25-23, 26-28, 25-27)

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Cetrullo 1, Rauwerdink 9, Krumins, Forni 9, Molteni 2, Buti 6, Rooney 19, Travica 6, Gavotto 17, Shumov, Exiga (L). DNP Pesenti, Zito. Coach. Monti.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 20, Leonardi, Birarelli 13, Della Lunga 13, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Sala 11, Bratoev, Sokolov 1, Colaci (L), Stokr 21, Bari. DNP Zygadlo. Coach. Stoytchev.

Monza flirted with the breakthrough. The hosts surrendered at the fourth set against the World Champs of Trentino, still unbeaten in the league.

Dragan Travica (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “Two negative results against Trento, but today the game was different. We would have deserved the tie-break, we have been a bit naïve in the third set but we played brilliantly in the fourth. That was still not enough, though. I am really sorry not to have gotten the results, especially for the fans who were fantastic. Still, I think we’re improving and, more importantly, we are learning to fight on every ball”.

Matey Kaziyski (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Today was definitely harder than the Italian Cup encounter. We found it difficult during the whole game. Monza played very well and I think it was a really good game to watch. We had to battle and face many tricky situations, but in the end we pulled it off”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – SISLEY TREVISO 2-3 (25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 26-28, 14-16)

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Henno (L), Parodi 17, Fortunato 5, Wijsmans 15, Carletti, Grbic 3, Nikolov 23, Patriarca, Volkov 12. DNP Mastrangelo, Galic, Montagna. Coach. Giuliani.

SISLEY TREVISO: Elgarten, Szabo, Fei 21, Horstink 11, Kovar 14, Papi 2, Farina (L), Boninfante 1, De Togni, Bontje 16, Maruotti, Bjelica 12. DNP Vanin. Coach. Piazza.

A week after the cup win in Verona, Cuneo played host to Treviso but was defeated in five sets. Fei MVP.

Simone Parodi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We were stronger and you could see that in the first two sets. We could have won without too much worry, but we started to lower our level, then there was that mistake of mine in the fourth: we could have sealed it but instead things turned around. We needed those two points to get away from Macerata, it was very important for us, we are very disappointed because we had the game in our hands”.

Dante Boninfante (Sisley Treviso): “We just did not compete in the first two sets. Cuneo won them easily without having to do much. The third set was much better, we were more incisive in attack and more accurate as a whole. They have slowed down in the fourth and they failed to seal it when they could. From that moment on, it was a battle like in our first meeting. We are back in the top places of the league table: Trento is too far ahead, but not the others”.

YOGA FORLÌ – M. ROMA VOLLEY 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 15-8)

YOGA FORLÌ: Falasca 24, De Pandis (L), Sintini 2, Kovacevic 8, Caldeira 18, Oivanen 13, Bovolenta 14. DNP Ricci Petitoni, Bacci, Diachkov, Olivucci, Ainsworth, Bellei. Coach. Molducci.

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Zaytsev 12, Paolucci, Lebl 6, Uriarte 7, Corsini 5, Saraceni 11, Bencz 24, Yosifov 13, Corsano (L). DNP Tomatis, Cesarini, Hoxha. Coach. Giani.

Second consecutive wins in the league for Forli, which defeated Roma as Caldeira made his home debut.

Piero Molducci (coach Yoga Forlì): “Shame we only won in the fifth set, the referees did not help us, they took us at least three points off and gave us a yellow card that basically decided the fourth set. Still, this was the right attitude, we have to keep up the good work”.

Andrea Giani (coach M. Roma Volley): “We made a few little mistakes which in the end made the difference in a tight encounter. We’ll keep working with this team, I did see some good things”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 20-25, 26-24)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli, Pajenk 8, Kosmina, Brunner 4, Meoni, Lasko 27, Smerilli (L), Lotman 11, Zingel 7, Cala Gerardo 12. DNP Mazzi, Herpe. Coach. Bagnoli.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Milushev 14, Rak 8, Pagano (L), Cozzi 8, Guglielmi, Guerra 8, Patriarca 5, Falaschi 1, Torre, Dvoranen 7, Rodriguez 13, Gallotta, Cicola (L). Coach. Gulinelli.

Third consecutive win for Verona, which defeated Castellana Grotte by dominating the first two sets and sealing it in the fourth after a reaction from the guests. Lasko MVP.

Michal Lasko (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We are extremely happy with the result. Castellana started to play in the third set, they played well on the serve. But we did well in the fourth set, we handled the ongoing very well. We took things back in our hands at a difficult moment”.

Fosco Cicola (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We are disappointed with tonight’s result. This is a game we could have won. This defeat sends us further away from our targets but we’ll keep fighting right until the end. The team proved it had character and fighting spirit tonight”.

CASA MODENA – COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 24-26, 16-14)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini, Fabroni, Kooistra 7, Dennis 25, Berezhko 14, Kooy, Esko 7, Creus Larry 11, Casoli, Diaz 15, Piscopo. DNP Casadei. Coach. Bagnoli.

COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA: Popp 11, Marra (L), Gonzalez 9, Ruiz 12, Perazzolo 3, Nilsson, Massari 1, Zlatanov 29, Holt 11, Tencati 11. DNP Semenzato, Piano, Boschi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Modena is back on the winning track as it registered its 8 tie-break won in as many played in the derby against Piacenza. MVP Dennis.

Daniele Bagnoli (coach Casa Modena): “We have thrown away another point like we had already done in Treviso. We waste too much. We mix up brilliant plays with terrible mistakes. It’s obvious that we are not composed, the players are capable of doing unbelievable things and then miss easy ones. Winning was crucial, but the things that make me angry is that the players work so hard and well in training and then doesn’t get as much as they could during games. Those players should be the first not to accept that. From next week we’ll also work individually on videos”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Copra Morpho Piacenza): “A new phase of the championship has started, we play to stay up so this is a good point. Our captain Zlatanov was our leader. After the third set, I had to do a lot of shouting to change the trend of my team”.
