SISLEY TREVISO – CASA MODENA 3-1 (25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 28-26)

SISLEY TREVISO: Szabo, Fei 19, Horstink 1, Kovar 19, Farina (L), Boninfante 1, Bontje 12, Maruotti 11, Bjelica 12. DNP Elgarten, Papi, De Togni, Vanin. Coach. Piazza.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Fabroni, Kooistra 6, Dennis 24, Berezhko 8, Kooy 2, Esko 2, Creus Larry 11, Casoli 3, Diaz 1, Piscopo. DNP Ciabattini. Coach. Bagnoli.

The 100th classic between Treviso and Modena went to Piazza’s team 3-1, which hold on to their fourth place in the table. Kovar was brilliant and named MVP.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “We could have won it 3-0, we lost a bit of our brilliance on the serve in the third, we missed 9 of them in that set, that made it difficult for us. Still, I have seen progress from my players in moment of adversity. It was a different game compared to last week, Modena based its game more on the reception. The feeling after beating Bagnoli? No special one, in the end, we had a laugh about it, he told me I stole him a point, and I told him they should have lost 3-0…”.

Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “We fought hard in the first set, Treviso played much better in the second and in the third we managed to react, we found balance with Casoli. Shame we let an important lead slip away in the fourth which prevented us to take a point. It’s a real shame to lose a game when you’re 22-18 up. Dennis played well tonight, we served decently compared to many other games, this is something we really need. Personally, I’m getting to know the group which I’ve been training for two days”.

Jiri Kovar (Sisly Treviso, Mvp Sustenium della gara): “We could and should have sealed it in the third set but we faded. We had certainly got the game where we wanted and we should have avoided to end up fighting at the end of the fourth. Anyway, it finished well, we consolidate our position in the league table and now we can focus on a very intense and important period”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – YOGA FORLì 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-19)

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Henno (L), Fortunato 5, Wijsmans 13, Carletti 2, Grbic 1, Nikolov 13, Patriarca 10, Volkov 13. DNP Mastrangelo, Parodi, Galic, Montagna, Peda. Coach. Giuliani.

YOGA FORLì: Falasca 12, Diachkov 5, De Pandis (L), Ainsworth 2, Sintini 2, Kovacevic 3, Caldeira 7, Oivanen 2, Bovolenta 6. DNP Ricci Petitoni, Bacci, Olivucci, Bellei. Coach. Molducci.

69 minutes were enough for Giuliani’s men to get rid of Forli 3-0. MVP: Alexander Volkov (4 blocks, 13 points, and 75% in attack).

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “This is a very intense period for us and it is very important to have players on whom you can always count. A big thank you to Patriarca, Fortunato, Peda (who eventually could not play for a minor injury), Carletti, players always ready and who are fundamental for us. Very sorry for Bertrand, who was having a great game until he was forced out by that injury”.

Vigor Bovolenta (Yoga Forlì): “We knew it was going to be hard against a top team like Cuneo, but to be honest we hoped we could do better. Cuneo was far too strong for us, we’ve had tough games of late, against Trento and Macerata, but we could have done better. We do well in training, but then when we face teams like that we are simply brushed aside. We have to work on that”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-14) –

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 7, Birarelli 9, Della Lunga 6, Juantorena 8, Zygadlo 1, Vieira De Oliveira, Sala 1, Bratoev 2, Sokolov 5, Colaci (L), Stokr 16, Garcia Pires Ribeiro 1. DNP Bari. Coach. Stoytchev.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO: Zhukouski 1, Van Den Dries 2, Schwarz 9, Dias 18, Giovi (L), Finazzi 3, Nikic 1, Braga 3, Maric 12, Cester, Steuerwald 1. DNP Bartoletti, Lo Bianco. Coach. Zanini.

The Italian Cup proved disappointing for Trentino but in the league it resumed where it had left off. It gathered its 15 victories in as many games over San Giustino 3-0.

Emanuele Birarelli (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It’s been a good game, we were focused in the important moments. The players that usually don’t play that much did a good job, they proved they were in rhythm. The MVP award is a little plus that I’m glad to take, just like the three points. It was important to bounce back after the cup final lost”.

Emanuele Zanini (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “We played face to face in the first two sets but it has to be said that the Trento team we faced was not the real one, given that Stoytchev widely used the turnover. This is not a game in which we’re meant to pick up points but we could have done more all the same, maybe win a set”.

COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 1-3 (25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 22-25)

Piacenza handed the shirt with number 500 to captain Zlatanov, corresponding to the number of games played in the Serie A. But the game that followed ended with a severe defeat. MVP Zlatanov.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Morpho Piacenza): “I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of the game. At this moment, it is right to talk to the president and question ourselves, including me, we need to turn things around in this season full of poor results”.

Marco Meoni (Marmi Lanza Verona): “Three golden points. We took full advantage of Piacenza’s problems. It was nice to come back here. Next Sunday’s game will be crucial for our league position”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 2-3 (25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 11-15)

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello, Savani 20, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio 2, Marchiani, Conte 14, Stankovic 14, Van Walle 1, Cacchiarelli, Omrcen 24, Podrascanin 7. DNP Vadeleux. Coach. Berruto.

Second home defeat of the season for Macerata (at the tie-break on both occasions). Monza managed to snatch it after trailing two sets to nil.

Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We played with players far from hundred percent fit after the Italian Cup, which is why I’m sending a big thank you to the players, like for example Omrcen, who wanted to play anyway and go through the pain. Unfortunately, the game lasted and in the conditions we are in, when it lasts too long we struggle. In the imminent future we’ll all have to suffer a little more, and learn to be more clinical when needed, in order to close down the opponent quicker”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “From the third set onwards, we managed to get the serves in, and consequently increased our rhythm of pay. The game was irregular, Macerata dominated the first part and we took over in the second. We did well not to give up and believe in our chances right until the end”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 2-3 (25-17, 26-24, 18-25, 30-32, 12-15)

ANDREOLI LATINA: Kovacevic 9, Popelka 3, Kohut 12, Gitto 3, Sottile 3, Pieri (L), Spairani 8, Vujevic 16, Starovic 27. DNP Cortina, Nonne, Labardi, Giombini. Coach. Medei.

Castellana snapped a ten-game losing streak in Latina. The hosts played extremely well in the first two sets before fading and struggling to contain the angry reaction of the guests. MVP Torre

Flavio Gulinelli (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “I am extremely happy to get this win in a city I know very well, where I have many friends. We have worked very hard in the past two weeks and we told ourselves that games were finished only when the last point was scored, that we should never give up. Bit by bit we found consistency and we played better”.

Giampaolo Medei (Andreoli Latina): “That’s exactly what I expected. Unfortunately we threw away the fourth set. There is not much time to sort things out because we’re playing in three days. What you saw is what we are right now. I had to sub Spairani because of a problem on his knee. We’ll know more about it tomorrow, he was the best on court up to that point”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 27-25, 25-19)

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Rivera Caamano 10, Coscione 2, Suljagic 8, Anderson 11, Ferraro (L), Kindgard, Simeonov 18, Ananiev, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 4. DNP Feroleto, Iurlaro. Coach. Di Pinto.

Roma overcame recent problems by beating Vibo Valentia with determination and fighting spirit. Corsano was on the bench and Cisolla in the stands.

Gianluca Saraceni (M. Roma Volley): “A win obtained with heart and character. We proved that when we pull together we can come out of the difficulties. I think our team has a great future ahead and a big margin for improvement”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We lacked rhythm today. We managed to impose our rhythm only in flashes. It was not easy because four of our players were not in great shape. I learned I could use them only at the last minute”.
