European Cups

Last Champions League round before return games.

CEV Cup 8th of Final and Challenge Cup 16th

European action is back for five Italian teams. In the Champions League, Cuneo will be the only one at home on Wednesday night at it hosts Maaseik, the current leader of group B with a one-point advantage on the Italian champs. Following its defeat against the Polish side of Belchatow, Trentino will try to bounce back against Remaut Zalau in what will be its first ever trip to Romania. Treviso is heading to France to face Tours. Beaten in the last round against the Russians of Belgorod, Treviso will try to leave the French behind them as both teams are currently tied at the bottom with two points in group E.

In the Cev Cup, Modena had brilliantly gone through in the 16th at the expense of Mladost and is now entertaining the Swiss of Amrisvil on Thursday in the 8th of final first leg.

Still on Thursday, Macerata travels to Greece for the Challenge Cup 16th of final. After knocking down Red Star Belgrade in the previous round, the Italians will meet Lamia. Cristian Savani travelled with the group but is doubtful because of an ankle injury suffered in the last league game.

Serie A2

Round 11 on Wednesday

In the third midweek round of the A2 season, the league leaders, Padova, hit the road to meet Loreto, beaten in the last round in Gela. Very interesting game in Santa Croce, with the host, third in the table, taking on Ravenna with the second place at stake. There’s a derby of the Lazio region with Sora versus Club Italia. The first has been one of the best so far while the second keeps looking for points to stay up. Reggio Emilia entertains Milan after its disappointing trip to Ravenna. Milan has won its last game at the tie-break against Genova. The latter is hosting Pineto, which moved up to 13th thanks to its win over Club Italia. Robert Fant will make his debut on the Perugia bench as the team travels to Isernia. Città di Castello, which ended a four-game losing streak last Sunday, plays host to Mantova, in great need of points. In Segrate, Ricci’s team will aim for its fourth win of the season against gela, galvanised by its clear victory over Loreto in the last round.
