Serie A1 round 7

Trento slows Roma down and stays top

Cuneo wins in Calabria while Macerata loses a point in Latina.

YOGA FORLì – CASA MODENA 0-3 (23-25, 19-25, 22-25) –

YOGA FORLì: Falasca 11, Bacci 2, Diachkov 10, Cuturic 2, De Pandis (L), Saitta, Bellei 14, Oivanen 7, Bovolenta 7. DNP Ricci Petitoni, Ainsworth, Loglisci. Coach. Molducci.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini (L), Fabroni, Dennis 16, Berezhko 1, Esko 2, Creus Larry 10, Casoli 5, Diaz 9, Piscopo 6. DNP Kooistra, Kooy. Coach. Prandi.

There was not much difference between the two teams on court, but Modena made less mistakes which, against the Forli seen in recent weeks, is enough. Dennis MVP.

Giovanni Gavelli (Yoga Forlì): “In the first set, even Falasca did well, then we did not manage to keep up the required level of play to take the points”.

Alberto Casadei (Casa Modena): “I have to say that in the first set I got a bit scared, Forli was doing extremely well. Then, we found our rhythm and took all three points”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 0-3 (18-25, 24-26, 19-25) –

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Rivera Caamano 10, Coscione 1, Suljagic 5, Anderson 16, Ferraro, Simeonov 9, Fanuli (L), Nikolov 4. DNP Feroleto, Kindgard, Baroti, Ananiev. Coach. Di Pinto.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 3, Henno (L), Wijsmans 7, Carletti, Grbic, Nikolov 18, Patriarca 11, Volkov 11. DNP Parodi, Galic, Fortunato, Montagna, Peda. Coach. Giuliani.

Vibo Valentia lost its hope of gaining anything against the Italian Champions, Cuneo, when it let a 24-19 lead slip away in the second set.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We started off a bit tense against one of the strongest teams of the league. We went ahead in the second set, we were playing well but then we lost our focus and Cuneo took advantage going 2-0 up and then taking the game. We’ll immediately start working on the next game, Forli on Saturday, which will be crucial for us”.

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We came in Vibo with the right determination and concentration. We faded a bit in the second set after a good first one. But I liked the reaction of the boys which allowed us to win the game”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (18-25, 27-29, 17-25) –

M. ROMA VOLLEY: Poey 5, Zaytsev 14, Paolucci, Lebl 7, Uriarte, Tomatis, Cesarini (L), Saraceni, Bencz 6, Yosifov 3, Corsano (L), Cisolla 9. DNP Corsini. Coach. Giani.

Trentino overcame Roma in the capital, putting an end to a home winning streak that had been lasting for over a season. MVP Stokr.

Andrea Giani(M. Roma Volley): “These games trains you to play at the top level. If you manage to hang in there, it becomes interesting and you can make it difficult for stronger teams too. Today, we stopped to believe in it in the third set”.

Andrea Sala (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We played good volleyball in a tough gym, both for its structure and the quality of the Roma team. We prepared the game very well, we studied every single aspect”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – SISLEY TREVISO 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-23) –

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Pajenk 9, Kosmina, Brunner 10, Meoni 1, Lasko 17, Lotman 10, Zingel, Cala Gerardo 21, Bolla, Herpe 2. Coach. Bagnoli.

SISLEY TREVISO: Fei 14, Horstink 21, Kovar 4, Papi 1, Farina (L), Boninfante 1, De Togni 3, Bontje 5, Pujol 1, Maruotti 1, Bjelica 7. DNP Szabo, Vanin. Coach. Piazza.

MVP Cala led the Verona team to victory over a Treviso team that concedes yet another defeat.

Cala Yosleyder (Marmi Lanza Verona): “The team had a good performance, I am sure that it still has margin for improvement, though. The understanding with Meoni is improving day after day and the cohesion with the group can only be a positive aspect”.

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso): “We started off well, we were playing good volleyball, but Verona stepped up a gear while we made too many mistakes”.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 1-3 (25-20, 22-25, 25-27, 20-25) –

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rauwerdink 10, Pesenti, Krumins, Forni 6, Molteni 2, Rooney 9, Travica 4, Gavotto 21, Shumov 5, Exiga (L). DNP Cetrullo, Zito, Buti. Coach. Monti.

Monza says thank you and takes the three points in Castellana Grotte, haunted by the same old mistakes in the clutch moments of the game. Exiga MVP.

Marco Falaschi (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “Unfortunately, we fail to take points and I think this is a mental problem because we were ahead in the first, then we were fine in the second too but we can’t seem to be able to seal simple plays. Then comes the pressure and it goes as it’s meant to. I don’t know what to say, we should be able to take the points needed at home, but there is something blocking us, especially from the 20 points onwards. It’s tough but we have to keep working”.

Luca Monti (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “I am extremely satisfied with the three points, there was a lot of pressure on both teams. We won it by being very humble, serving floaters on the libero and then we also made the right choices at the net. It’s been hard, we still have to work on our game”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 2-3 (25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 11-25, 10-15) –

Macerata came out of the Pala Bianchini after two hours of play with a victory. That’s a golden point for Latina against one of the best teams of the league as it proved it in this beginning of season. MVP Kovacevic

Giampaolo Medei (Andreoli Latina): “We played the best volleyball we were capable of in the first set. Then, Macerata stepped up a gear and did not let us play at the same level. We managed to snatch a point against a great team of this league, I can only be satisfied”.

Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We have five jump servers out of six and this allowed us to hit the serve hard and be more incisive. Latina is definitely a playoff team, with great technique and good players, this is a nice victory for us”.

Roberto Braga (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “We are extremely happy with tonight’s performance. Trailed two sets to nil, we managed to fight back. Me, Zhukouski and Ven Den Dries came on, we managed to play our game and make it difficult for them. We redeemed ourselves after Sunday’s poor performance against Roma. We are working a lot and this pays off. We’ll go to Treviso with a little extra”.

Davide Marra (Copra Morpho Piacenza): “Our opponent did well to react when they were two sets down. Our team is totally new, but we are working extremely hard and the results are coming”.
