Defeated in Poland on Wednesday, Trento reassures itself in the league with a sweep  over Vibo Valentia. Trento was without Birarelli and Vibo without Barone. Kaziyski MVP.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It was a game we needed to win to stay top and we did it. But our game has not always been satisfying. We have to find a spark in many areas of the game, especially at the net. Anyway, thanks to our experience, we manage to get the win”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We played well but only in flashes, we couldn’t keep up with Trento’s rhythm. They can step up whenever they want with their serve. Simeonov had a good performance tonight, he played with consistency, he was always the man to look for on offence. We have to improve in various situations”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-18) –

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lampariello 4, Paparoni (L), Vermiglio 3, Marchiani, Conte 11, Stankovic 7, Van Walle 3, Cacchiarelli, Omrcen 18, Podrascanin 8. DNP Savani, Vadeleux. Coach. Berruto.

Macerata gathered its fifth win in six games, of which four on a 3-0 score. Thanks to the latest victory over Castellana Grotte, it stands second in the league. An inspired Vermiglio was named MVP.

Mauro Berruto (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Today it was important to focus on the result more than the style of play, like at the end of the first set. So mission accomplished, credit to the boys, although we’ll have to avoid certain mistakes in attack in the future. Losing two players of the same position and passport makes things really complicated, but we did well this time round again. Seeing how motivated the boys have been in the last few games is certainly helping to improve. If we keep going this way, this will be very beneficial for the future”.

Marco Falaschi (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “The key to the game was definitely the first set, in which our mistakes halfway through were severely punished. We were there, but unfortunately when you make certain mistakes you really can’t argue with the result”.

SISLEY TREVISO – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 1-3 (23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-25) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Fei 23, Horstink 6, Kovar 6, Papi 1, Farina (L), Boninfante, De Togni, Bontje 14, Pujol 1, Maruotti 3, Vanin (L), Bjelica 6. DNP Szabo. Coach. Piazza.

Monza came back from the Pala Verde with a valuable 3-1 victory while Treviso conceded its third defeat running.

Luca Monti (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “The game was tight for three sets, then they easily won the fourth. It was a tough game to handle and I am happy to see how my boys have played, showing a positive energy on court. Our attitude was good, we stayed in the game all the time, with determination. We psychologically won it, putting Treviso under pressure”.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “Even if we had ups on downs, we played face to face with our opponents in the first three sets, but then our uncertainties came back to haunt us. The main responsible is myself, I am obviously struggling to transmit to the players what they need, we’ll have to understand why in the next few days. Three losses in the league and one in the cup is a lot. We are training hard on certain schemes but then we fail to reproduce it on court. So we’ll just try to understand what is going wrong, it’s a challenge that could be fundamental in the maturation of the team”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – CASA MODENA 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) –

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 3, Henno (L), Parodi 10, Fortunato 7, Wijsmans 14, Grbic 3, Peda, Nikolov 15, Patriarca, Volkov 5. DNP Galic, Montagna, Carletti. Coach. Giuliani.

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini, Kooistra 2, Dennis 16, Kooy, Esko 2, Creus Larry 5, Casoli 11, Diaz 7, Piscopo 3. DNP Fabroni. Coach. Prandi.

The Italian champions defeated Modena in straight sets.

Luigi Mastrangelo (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I really can’t complain for a start given that I am not training much, coach Giuliani is keeping me rested. We are not hundred percent yet but I feel like we’re on the right track. We lacked a bit of consistency against Modena, but one of our characteristics is that we never give up, even with four points adrift, we managed to come back”.

Angel Dennis (Casa Modena): “I feel in fairly good shape. We obviously hoped to get something more out of this game, but I think it is important to say that this 3-0 is not like the ones suffered against Trento and Piacenza, especially Piacenza, when we were totally dominated. We have to accept the defeat and look ahead, start from here. In terms of attitude and spirit, the team was not bad but there was too many problems on the serve and reception. Cuneo was really too strong”.

COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA – YOGA FORLì 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-19) –

COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA: Popp 8, Semenzato 1, Marra (L), Gonzalez 6, Ruiz, Perazzolo, Nilsson 10, Zlatanov 16, Holt 3, Tencati 11. DNP Massari, Boschi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

YOGA FORLì: Falasca 16, Ricci Petitoni, Bacci, Diachkov 5, Cuturic 8, De Pandis (L), Saitta, Loglisci 1, Bellei 1, Oivanen 4, Bovolenta 8. DNP Olivucci, Ainsworth. Coach. Molducci.

Piacenza registered its fourth consecutive victory over Forli and stands now in fifth position in the league table. MPV: Gonzalez

Paolo Maffi (Copra Morpho Piacenza): “This is an important victory that will give us confidence. Despite the line up problems, Forli fought right till the end of each set. This victory will certainly help us to face Wednesday’s tough road game with more courage and belief in our ability. I would like to say a word about the achievement of Luca Tencati, who played his 400th game in the Serie A today: a great result of which the player, club and city of Piacenza should be proud”.

Vigor Bovolenta (Yoga Forlì): “Everything went wrong. If we keep going this way, we are certain to go down. We don’t need to start a new chapter but a whole new book. Halfway through the first set, we missed two important counters and you can’t give anything away to a team like Piacenza”.

M. ROMA VOLLEY – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT SAN GIUSTINO 3-1 (15-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-12) –

Job done for Roma which defeated San Giustino 3-1. It was not the best performance of the season but Giani’s boys took three important points ahead of extremely tough games against Trento and Cuneo.

Ivan Zaytsev (M. Roma Volley): “We are working to improve our approach to the games and be immediately aggressive on court. We knew we had to pick up three points tonight because from Wednesday a run of tough games is looming ahead. We did well never to give up, even when things went wrong. Our target remains to qualify for the Italian cup”.

Andrea Giovi (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it San Giustino): “In the first two sets, we put in practice what we had learn. In the meantime, Roma struggled thanks to our tactical discipline. Then, they stepped up a gear, which we haven’t been able to do when we found ourselves trailing”.
