Serie A1 round 2

CASA MODENA – SISLEY TREVISO 3-2 (25-22, 25-17, 25-27, 18-25, 16-14) –

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Fabroni, Kooistra 12, Dennis 19, Berezhko 11, Kooy 20, Casadei 1, Esko 2, Creus Larry 6, Casoli, Diaz 1, Piscopo. DNP Ciabattini. Coach. Prandi.

Silvano Prandi (Casa Modena): “Overall, we had a good game. I know we could have sealed it at 3-0. There was the KO in the third set, and then we suffered the psychological aftermath. We did well to react in the fifth set, though. The substitutions? We have a deep and reliable roster”.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “I am extremely disappointed with the first two sets: we just didn’t play. It’s true we had a good reaction, but we should have started to play before that”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22) –

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli, Pajenk 10, Kosmina, Brunner 10, Meoni, Lasko 21, Smerilli (L), Lotman, Zingel, Cala Gerardo 16, Herpe 7. DNP Bolla. Coach. Bagnoli.

Lorenzo Smerilli (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We know this will be a long season but on that occasion, we proved we were united, this is a compliment to the whole staff, to my teammates and the fans who really encourage us. Piacenza is a strong team, but we had fun tonight, we played excellent volleyball. I am glad to have been elected MVP but I repeat, this is the victory of a group”.

Popp Marcus (Copra Morpho Piacenza): “I am disappointed with tonight’s game. We have never found our rhythm, we are training a lot but we are missing the little things. We have to cut down on mistakes, this was key again tonight. I think the team put up a fight but on the other side of the net, they have had a good performance”.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE – ANDREOLI LATINA 0-3 (20-25, 20-25, 19-25) –

Michal Rak (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We did not manage to play our game. We immediately went down by 4-5 points in each set and never managed to come back in them. We felt the pressure of making our home debut because we really wanted to do well and we just failed. I think we mainly have to work on the mental aspect”.

Carmelo Gitto (Andreoli Latina): “We played well and as a team. We made few mistakes and that’s important for us. We played with composure, the experience of Kovacevic and Vujevic obviously helped, and Sottile got the offence to perform with consistency”.

Valerio Vermiglio (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We did a good job of staying focused play after play to get points. They have played very well, but we found that little extra, making less mistakes and hitting hard when necessary”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “It’s always important to win. Today, it would have been important to do so for reasons that go beyond sport. Shame, we really wanted it. We lacked some good serving to win it, they are a team that becomes tough to block when they receive that easily. But this is only the second game, we have time to redeem ourselves”.

Piero Molducci (Yoga Forlì): “Cuneo is a team that doesn’t let you breathe. We struggle against such team. Still, I think we had a good game, considering the many physical problems”.

Hubert Henno (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Forli played intelligently, they made it hard for us because they have a solid outside hitter. We stayed focused after the first set, and we calmly started to get it together until the final victory”.

Andrea Sala (Itas Diatec Trentino): “San Giustino played a good game, with a good spirit as they were pushed by the crowd. We had what are normal difficulties at this time of the season. We are building our identity, but the reaction we had in the fourth sets proves we already have character”.
