COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 0-3 (23-25, 21-25, 19-25)

COPRA MORPHO PIACENZA: Popp 14, Semenzato 4, Marra (L), Gonzalez 4, Ruiz 1, Perazzolo, Nilsson 4, Zlatanov 18, Tencati 9. DNP Piano, Massari, Boschi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rauwerdink 13, Krumins 1, Forni, Buti 5, Rooney 18, Travica 2, Gavotto 17, Shumov 4, Exiga (L). DNP Cetrullo, Pesenti, Zito, Molteni. Coach. Monti.

Bitter start for Piacenza which was defeated in three sets by Monza in its home debut and live on television. Monti’s team offered a brilliant performance and deservedly took all three points without conceding a set. The end of the first set was key. Piacenza failed to convert a 23-21 lead, giving up four consecutive points for a 23-25 score. Piacenza has made a lot of changes this summer and it is clear it will need more time to be able to work on all cylinders.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach. Copra Morpho Piacenza): “It’s difficult to say that the boys have done well after a 3-0 loss, but I have seen some good things although we know we have weaknesses right now on which we have to work on”.

Luca Monti (coach. Acqua Paradiso Monza e Brianza): “I didn’t expect to begin that well away from home. We’ve worked a lot on our serve and we played well. Excellent work at the net too. I am happy with Rooney’s debut game, he was extremely incisive in attack”.
