Perugia wins its first European Cup trophy

Perugia won its first European trophy. It beat Mladost Zagreb 3-0 in the Challenge Cup final. It was all one-way traffic as Perugia gathered no less than five individual award. Amongst them, the MVP award went to libero Damiano Pippi, who played its last official game, and won the only title that was missing in his trophy cabinet.


 


Giacomo Sintini (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “I have to congratulate Zagreb, which knocked out some great teams on its way to the Final Four. But the biggest congratulations goes to my team, which had to overcome a never-ending list of problems this season. We had to take in a lot of bitter events but I think what will remain in the memories is this European triumph”.


 


Radovan Malevic (allenatore Mladost Zagreb): “Perugia had an unbelievable performance. Savani’s serve destroyed our game. In the third set, we tried to do anything possible but Perugia was up for it, focused and we just couldn’t do more. We are still very happy and, aware of my team’s problems, I can only congratulate my players”.

TIM Boy League Final Six


 


 


In Sestola, Trentino won the Boy League Final Six (15th Enrico Bazan cup). This is its second trophy of its history at youth level following the one gathered in 2006 at under18 level. This time, it is the Roberto Deanesi’s Under14 that celebrates. It registered a perfect run of 12 wins in as many games. In the qualification round yesterday afternoon, Trento had beaten Macerata and Padova, while it kad the better of Falconara on Sunday morning in the semi-finals. Milano was the last hurdle, overcome 2-1.
