Mixed fortune for the Italians in the Champions League playoff 12: Trentino had a good start, it won 3-1 against Roeselare from Belgium. Trento will only need 2 sets in the return leg in Belgium on Wednesday to go through. On the other hand, it was a disappointing debut for Macerata: It gifted the fourth set and ended up losing at the tie-break against Bled in Slovenia. This means there is still everything to play for in the return leg in Italy on Wednesday. De Giorgi’s team will need a win with a two-set margin to make sure it qualifies. In case of parity, there will be the Golden Set (to 15 points).

Meanwhile, Perugia celebrates his qualification to the quarter finals of the Challenge cup thanks to a double 3-0 win over Kakanj. It will meet the winner of Aich (Austria) versus Asse-Lennik (Belgium). The quarter final first leg will take place in Perugia between the 23rd and 25th February.
