The eight teams qualified for the Italian Cup quarter finals are known with a round in hand:Itas Diatec Trentino, Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo, Trenkwalder Modena, Sisley Treviso, CoprAtlantide Piacenza, Lube Banca Marche Macerata, Acqua Paradiso Monza and RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia. The next round will only be needed to define who meets who. Trento, Cuneo and Modena have already secured home court advantage, while Treviso, Piacenza and Macerata will fight for the 4th spot. Verona, Vibo Valentia and Taranto are out. Pineto obtained its first victory of the season at the tie-break against Loreto. All the games of the 15th round will be played simultaneously at 6pm on Sunday 13 December.

SISLEY TREVISO – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Carletti, Fei 24, Papi 9, Farina (L), Kohut 14, De Togni 1, Bontje 14, Maruotti 13, Garcia 2. DNP Sabbi, Vanin, Cuda. Coach. Piazza Roberto.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 13, Portuondo Juantorena 16, Zygadlo 2, Vieira De Oliveira 2, Vissotto Neves 20, Sala 11, Corsini 5, Herpe 3, Bari (L). DNP Gallosti, Garcia Pires Ribeiro, Fedrizzi, Valsecchi Damiano. Coach. Stoytchev Radostin.

Treviso had the better of Trentino 3-2 at the end of a hard-fought game. This stopped the World Champions’ run that had been lasting for 11 games. Trentino will now need next week’s game to claim the winter champion title. Mvp: Brazilian Ricardo.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “The team had a great game, it would be wrong to speak about individual players because everybody contributed to the win: Ricardo, Bontje, Maruotti, Fei, Papi…At the beginning of the season, I said we should have the saliva dripping out of our mouth, and the attitude I meant with this is the one I’ve seen tonight. Our sport is a team sport and we proved we had a solid group against Trento, we managed to win with a smile: our attitude was important. We can win against anyone, especially in the PalaVerde which has to become a tough court for anyone”.

Radostin Stoychev (Itas Diatec Trento): “The fast paced game of Ricardo was difficult to handle. Every time Treviso plays against us, they put maximum energy into it. Congratulations to them for this win. We are not at the best of our form and that influenced the game”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-1 (25-13, 19-25, 25-21, 27-25) –

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Raymaekers 7, Cisolla 15, Paparoni 8, Vermiglio 3, Bartoletti 1, Fantin 1, Monopoli 1, Corsano (L), Omrcen 16, Podrascanin 13. DNP Lebl, Smerilli, Martino. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Groppi, Sottile 1, Della Lunga 6, Lasko 23, Kovar 2, Curti 8, Holt 6, Colaci, Kromm 17, Howard. DNP Peslac. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

Thanks to a three-point win over Verona, Macerata kept its hopes of finishing fourth alive. This will all depend on the last round next Sunday.

Marko Podrascanin (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This game was a lot similar to the previous ones we won against Latina and Monza. Good start, then we clearly faded. The fact that we play every three days is probably taking its toll. Still, these are three important points, all the more so given the fact we did not manage to express our best volleyball”.

Valerio Curti (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We haven’t played to the best of our abilities and lost. But we still managed to get very close to force a tie-break, tying the fourth set at 24. Shame we didn’t get a point”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) –

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Rauwerdink 12, Haldane, Forni 8, Molteni 10, Buti 10, Travica, Gavotto 19, Exiga (L). DNP Sivula, Pesenti, Krumins, Tuominen, De Luca. Coach. Berruto Mauro.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Gonzalez 2, Corvetta, Andrae 11, Saraceni 6, Moltò 5, Simeonov 17, Quiroga 4, Tencati 3, Barone, Cicola (L). DNP Cannistrà, Marquez, Ferraro. Coach. Uriarte Jon.

Monza took all three points as the two middleblockers, Buti and Forni, were the key players in the clutch moments. Vibo can be disappointed for the second set lost by the minimum margin. Simeonov stood out for the guests with 17 points.

Simone Buti (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “Our main asset has definitely been our competitive spirit, the fact that we tried our best on every play, even when it looked very difficult. We did well to never give up, and keep fighting point after point. Our serve was fundamental, we managed to keep their reception away from the net, which made it more difficult for them”.

Ventceslav Simeonov (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We lacked composure, focus and confidence, especially in the decisive moments of the second and third sets, because it was all tied until 20-20. Then, they managed to pull away. Congratulations to Monza because it played really well. We have to ponder, in the last month we had to face a few problems in the team: we have to find the right balance, we haven’t found the necessary confidence to play with consistency, especially in the key moments”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22) –

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 15, Henno (L), Parodi 10, Fortunato 4, Nikolov 11, Grbic 7, Mastrangelo 7, Patriarca. Non entrati Ariaudo, Nuti, Jeroncic, Peda, Pieri. All. Giuliani Alberto.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Van Den Dries 13, Giovi (L), Saitta, Snippe 5, Nikic 8, Fabroni, Geric 7, Vujevic 3, Spairani 7. Non entrati Gitto, Cortina, Giombini. All. Giampaolo Medei.

It might not have been one of Cuneo’s best performances against a fighting and reactive Latina team, decided to bounce back following the change of coach (Medei for Ricci), but it grabbed the three points needed for the Italian Cup.

Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti): “We obtained an important victory even if the game has not been one of the best of the season. It’s also true that Latina was effective. The important thing was to secure second place for the Italian Cup. It’s undeniable that we are a bit tired following the long trip to Macerata, the road game in Switzerland for the Cev Cup, then the work with the weights, but we got the result we wanted and this will motivate us for the coming games”.

Giampaolo Medei (Andreoli Latina): “There have been positive and negative things. As far as the play is concerned, I am satisfied, we did well some difficult things, while the negative is that we made silly mistakes missing easy things. I think we have to improve in terms of unity of the team”.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA – PRISMA TARANTO 3-1 (25-17, 27-29, 26-24, 25-23) –

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA: Hubner 12, Savani 25, Cernic 5, Nemec, Sintini 4, Pippi (L), Stokr 29, Bovolenta 7. DNP Bucaioni, Botti, Ogurcak, Lo Bianco, Fanuli. Coach. Sartoretti Andrea.

PRISMA TARANTO: De Oliveira 11, Ricciardello (L), Cozzi 7, Suxho 4, Westphal 1, Elia 10, Rodrigo Pinto 21, Abbadi 12, Quartarone. DNP Candellaro, Montagna, Moretti. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

The stakes were high for Perugia, which qualifies for the Italian Cup thanks to this 3-1 win over Taranto. It had been missing out on the competition for the past three years. Cristian Savani MVP.

Jan Stokr (RPA-Luigibacchi Perugia): “I didn’t think I would have played like that tonight. I had not been feeling at my best for a while, but I am very happy with my performance and, especially with the win. Savani proved again tonight he is a great player. It was a crucial game for us, now we are back in the Italian Cup”.

Alberto Elia (Prisma Taranto): “We came here to win. Our first target of the season was the 8th position at the halfway point of the season. We failed, but we proved once more tonight that we are a combative team. We wanted to put pressure on the opponent but the reality is that we struggled in the first set. Then, we were more focused and better on the serve. It’s not the first time that we force a good team to go to the wire. We are a new team and we have to follow our coach’s advices who makes us work a lot. Now, we have to play with the eight spot in mind for the end of the season”.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO – ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-11)

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO: Ravellino 6, Roberts 7, Hernandez 24, Lampariello (L), Royal Enrique 3, Sborgia 12, Ereu 14, Gradinarov 2. DNP Perez Moreno, Centorame, Di Franco, Perazzolo, Armeti. Coach. Fant Roberto.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 7, Marra (L), Diachkov 18, Dolfo 1, Tereshin 1, Visentin 2, Vigilante 26, Belcecchi, Paoli, Cester 7, Shumov 10. DNP Marzola, Caporaletti. Coach. Moretti Luca.

Pineto gathered its first win of the season at the tie-break against Loreto. Hernandez led his team to victory with 24 points (MVP). Often the Achilles of the team, the work at the net went fine tonight: 12 blocks made all together.

Roberto Fant (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “Congratulations to all the boys for this nice comeback win, which rewards all our sacrifices and our effort: hopefully this is a turning point, hopefully these two points will help us to set off, especially psychologically. Hernandez greatly helped us, but I insist on the fact that it was a team effort”.

Luca Moretti (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “Shame because we had reacted well to lead 2-1. Hernandez’s quality and experience were key in Pineto’s win. The Cuban can be for Pineto what was Rivaldo last season”.
