PRISMA TARANTO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 1-3 (21-25, 25-16, 16-25, 24-26) –

PRISMA TARANTO: De Oliveira 12, Ricciardello (L), Cozzi 8, Moretti 1, Suxho 4, Westphal 1, Elia 4, Rodrigo Pinto 15, Abbadi 8, Spescha 4. DNP Candellaro, Montagna, Quartarone. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lebl 3, Raymaekers, Cisolla 15, Paparoni 5, Vermiglio 2, Bartoletti, Martino 2, Monopoli, Corsano (L), Omrcen 24, Podrascanin 8. DNP Fantin, Smerilli. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

Both parts made many mistakes. Omrcen was the clutch player, MVP with 24 points, lethal on the serve with two consecutive aces at 23-22 for Taranto. Westphal’s mistake from the backline was also decisive on the 23-20 for Taranto.

Paolo Montagnani (Prisma Taranto): “There has been great competitiveness. Omrcen decided it, the right man at the right moment. He found himself on the serve and launched three massive hits difficult to contain. The big teams are like that, they find their best weapons in the clutch time. As for us, Westphal’s mistake at 23-20 was key”.

Fefè De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “A tight game psychologically, which we won thanks to Omrcen: We know he can cause a lot of problems to the opponent from the serve. We had to find unusual resources to get back in the fourth set, in which Taranto seemed to be heading towards a tie-break. Let’s just say that we took advantage of our three best rotations on the serve: Martino, Cisolla and Omrcen”.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-2 (32-30, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 21-19) –

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 7, Marra (L), Marzola, Diachkov 14, Dolfo 5, Visentin 8, Vigilante 25, Belcecchi, Paoli, Cester 14, Shumov 16. DNP Caporaletti Emanuele. Coach. Moretti Luca.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Van Den Dries 2, Gitto 3, Cortina (L), Giovi (L), Saitta 1, Snippe, Nikic 25, Fabroni 2, Geric 1, Vujevic 15, Spairani 14, Giombini 20. Coach. Ricci Daniele.

Thrilling game in Loreto’s PalaSerenelli. In a match up between two teams fighting to stay up, the hosts eventually celebrated at the end of 5 tight sets. Vigilante was the MVP of the game (25 pts).

Christian Vigilante (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “We had to give it all in such an important game and that’s what we did. We played with fighting spirit, heart and got the win. The fourth set was the turning point when we came back from 12-14 down, showing all our persistence and will to win”.

Leondino Giombini (Andreoli Latina): “We could have won it, but we did not handle our 2-1 lead very well. We are not as strong as we thought and we’ll have to fight hard in the next few games to move up the table”.

YOGA FORLì – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 0-3 (16-25, 22-25, 16-25) –

YOGA FORLì: Mengozzi, Coscione, Carrol 9, Popp 7, Stancu 7, Ainsworth, Gjorgiev, De Pandis (L), Casadei, Loglisci 7, Maric 11, Bacci. DNP Bianchi. Coach. Molducci Piero.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 21, Portuondo Juantorena 15, Zygadlo 3, Sala 6, Fedrizzi 2, Sokolov 3, Corsini 3, Herpe 2, Bari (L). DNP Gallosti, Birarelli, Vieira De Oliveira, Vissotto Neves. Coach. Stoytchev Radostin.

Tento was rarely put under pressure. Only Marci and Carrol managed to give a bit of food for thought to the Italian champs, especially in the second set. The rest was Kaziyski and Zygadlo’s show.

Joel Bacci (Yoga Forlì): “We have not been accurate from the serve, and we really could have done better in the second sets, when we made it difficult for Trento. Let’s focus on Sunday’s game against Verona now”.

Francesco Corsini (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I played here 11 years ago, in Forli’s first year in the A1. I’m always glad to come back here. We had a good game, putting the foot on the pedal whenever needed. Nice three points”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-15) –

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Henno (L), Parodi 11, Ariaudo, Fortunato 7, Nuti, Nikolov 14, Grbic 4, Peda 3, Mastrangelo 14, Patriarca 9. DNP Bolla, Pieri, Mulatero. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO: Ravellino 1, Perez Moreno 3, Roberts, Hernandez 8, Lampariello (L), Henrique 3, Sborgia 3, Di Franco 2, Perazzolo 5, Ereu 6, Gradinarov. DNP Modica, Centorame. Coach. Fant Roberto.

Easy win for Cuneo, which had everything under control right from the start despite Wijmans’ absence. Substitute Patriarca did well, while the MVP was Mastrangelo, doing brilliantly at the net.

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We have faced this game with the right attitude, I’m satisfied with the team, which stayed focused on the game and took the three points”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-22) –

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Sivula, Rauwerdink 10, Krumins 1, Haldane, Forni 12, Molteni 11, Buti 11, Travica 2, Gavotto 20, Exiga (L). DNP Pesenti, Semenzato, Tuominen. Coach. Berruto Mauro.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Groppi, Sottile, Della Lunga 14, Lasko 22, Kovar 1, Curti 3, Holt 7, Colaci, Kromm 17, Howard 1. DNP Peslac. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

A dedicated victory and three important points for Monza. Simone Buti was named MVP.

Marcello Forni (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “We won for Marcello Gabana too. We failed to do so in Macerata despite the fact we played well but this time the win is dedicated to him and our new chairman. We had a good performance, we played good dig, counter attacked and made it difficult for them. Hopefully, we’ll take more points against Treviso on Sunday”.

Giulia Gabana (Presidente Acqua Paradiso Monza): “I am very happy even if I have to admit that I was worried in the first set. I’m convinced somebody up there gave us a hand. I had one of his photos with me and I talked to him during the game. He was with us all the time. As for the rest, it’s three crucial points, not only for the league but also for the Italian cup qualification”.

Daniele Sottile (Marmi Lanza verona): “We handled poorly there flot serve. It was not that hard to receive it but we messed it up ourselves. Right from the start, we should have kept it tight but with our reception away from the net we made it easier for them to read our game”.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA – TRENKWALDER MODENA 2-3 (26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25, 6-15) –

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA: Hubner 7, Savani 16, Bucaioni, Cernic 7, Nemec 1, Sintini 1, Pippi (L), Lo Bianco, Stokr 23, Bovolenta 9. Non entrati Botti, Fanuli. All. Sartoretti Andrea.

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Kooistra 12, Dennis 21, Pagni 7, Kooy 16, Esko 4, Meszaros 2, Casoli 10, Diaz Mayorca 13. Non entrati Ciabattini, Soli, Biribanti, Piscopo. All. Prandi Silvano.

Perugia’s run of four consecutive wins has been interrupted at the fifth set against Modena in a game it seemed to be able to dominate from start to finish. Dick Kooy was the man of the match. Perugia won the first set despite being 5 points behind at one point. The host made it 2-0 before finding itself without energy to finish it off in the third. The fourth was all Modena and in the tie-break the guest did not find much difficulty to seal it.

Claudio Sciurpa (Presidente RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We shouldn’t lose games like that. I just can’t believe it happened. It’s impressive how we faded after the first two sets. The fourth and fifth set reminded me of the game against Modena of the 21st of December 2008, and this was precisely the game I wanted to forget about”.

Filippo Pagni (Trenkwalder Modena): “Perugia did very well in the first two sets, especially to limit Dennis, while we made a few too many mistakes. In the third we fought hard as it was tight. Then, from the fourth set on, Perugia disappeared, and it became easier for us. We knew we would have won the tie-break, you could feel it in the air. Perugia had nothing left to give”.
