After five consecutive wins, Modena eventually ended up on the losing end against Cuneo (0-3). In a heated atmosphere at the PalaPanini gym for a classic of Italian volleyball, Cuneo had the better of an intense and tight game, especially in the first two sets. Indeed, the hosts had their opportunities in those first two sets, both sealed on a 26-28 score. Cuneo was more careful in the clutch time, led by its attackant Nikolov, Wijmans, Parodi and the ex: Mastrangelo. As for Modena, coach Sivano Prandi, made various substitutions with his four spikers but he couldn’t turn things around. Luigi Mastrangelo was named MVP of the game.
Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “We made too many mistakes in many phases of the game and you can’t afford to do that against one of the league favourites. Cuneo played better technically today, we are obviously disappointed to have lost those first two sets: If they had had a different outcome, the game might have changed. We have a great margin of improvement and today’s game will be useful to understand on what we have to work”.
Nikola Grbic (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We are very happy with the win, these are three points that will give us confidence. We put well into practice things we had prepared, we tried to limit Dennis, a crucial player for Modena. We can improve our game, this encounter will definitely help”.
