SISLEY TREVISO – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-18) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Fei 13, Horstink 16, Farina (L), Kohut 3, De Togni 5, Bontje 4, Maruotti 8, Vanin (L), Garcia 3. Dnp Carletti, Papi, Sabbi, Cuda. Coach. Piazza Roberto.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lebl 4, Raymaekers, Cisolla 8, Vermiglio, Bartoletti, Fantin, Smerilli (L), Martino 6, Monopoli, Corsano (L), Omrcen 19, Podrascanin 10. Dnp Paparoni. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

In the fourth round of the A1, Treviso severely defeated Macerata 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-18). A great performance against the ex Cisolla and Vermiglio handed coach Roberto Piazza the fourth consecutive win and the top position in the table.

Robert Horstink (Sisley Treviso), MVP: “I am not very surprised by the result, because we know we can beat anyone if we play like we did tonight: obviously the 3-0 is a score that makes itself noticed, but we too advantage of the poor spells from our opponent, especially in reception. We hit the serve hard and tried to play every ball with maximum intensity. It’s a good result but there is still a long road in front of us”.

Massimo Caponeri (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Treviso played with great enthusiasm and an excellent organisation on court, and that made the difference. They imposed their quick rhythm from the beginning to the end. We have to forget it all and think about Wednesday’s game”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) – TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini (L), Kooistra 9, Dennis 17, Kooy 2, Esko 2, Meszaros 3, Casoli, Diaz Mayorca 9, Piscopo 7. Dnp Soli, Pagni, Biribanti. Coach. Prandi Silvano.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 2, Marra (L), Marzola 1, Diachkov 10, Dolfo, Van Dijk 7, Visentin, Vigilante 2, Belcecchi, Paoli 1, Cester 9, Shumov 6. Coach. Moretti Luca.

Third consecutive win on a 3-0 score for Modena. In front of 3000 fans at the PalaPanini, it beat Loreto with a convincing performance, which extends the good moment of form of the team as it will be rested in the next round on Wednesday. It is now joint-leader with Treviso with 10 points. Luis Diaz shined as he entered in the second set, closing the day on a 70% in attack and 2 blocks. So good was the Venezuelan that he was named MVP.

Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “When you win 3-0, you can only be satisfied. Maybe we did not play as well as against Latina, but Loreto made it difficult for us in some aspects of the game. Still, the win is very important and I am happy with the excellent entry of Diaz: He had a great contribution in every fundamentals and he showed he was in good shape”.

Luca Moretti (Esse-ti Loreto): “we haven’t played our best volleyball, we especially struggled in attack even though Modena possesses players of a higher quality than ours. The result is logical. We are a young team, we would need to train with more continuity, but I am still satisfied with certain phases of our game and we have margin for improvement”.

YOGA FORLì – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) –

YOGA FORLì: Coscione 2, Carrol 15, Popp 16, Stancu 5, Ainsworth, Gjorgiev, De Pandis (L), Bianchi (L), Casadei, Loglisci 2, Maric 18. Dnp Mengozzi, Damassa. Coach. Molducci Piero.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO: Ravellino, Perez Moreno 1, Roberts 5, Modica, Lampariello (L), Henrique, Sborgia 7, Di Franco 5, Perazzolo 7, Ereu 11, Gradinarov 2. Dnp Armeti. Coach. Brutti Alessandro.

Not a great game in terms of technique, but an excellent result for Forli, which grabs its first win and first three points of the season. He obtained it making fewer mistakes than Pineto, and thanks to the trio Martelli-Maric-Popp, who attacked with high percentages. Carroll did well too: the Australian outside hitter clearly won its one-on-one against Perazzolo, who made a lot of mistakes in the first and third set. Max Di Franco did OK: the ex of the day had an interesting 5 out of 5 in the first set but faded afterwards. Coach Brutti gave minutes to all his men, while Molducci played with the same players, apart from a couple of brief changes”.

Piero Molducci (Yoga Forlì): “It’s not been a fantastic game but we are satisifed with the result. We had a few injury problems and there will be some news on the market. We will strengthen the squad on two different positions”.

Alessandro Brutti (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “I tried to use the turnover, but it didn’t work. We have been playing together for too little time. Our league campaign will really begin in the next few weeks, when we will have gelled together”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 1-3 (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25) –

ANDREOLI LATINA: Van Den Dries 3, Gitto, Giovi (L), Saitta 2, Snippe 13, Nikic 12, Fabroni, Geric 4, Vujevic, Spairani 3, Giombini 21. Dnp Cortina. Coach. Ricci Daniele.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Contreras 13, Gonzalez 8, Corvetta, Marquez 22, Andrae 10, Ferraro (L), Saraceni, Tencati 7, Barone 9, Cicola (L). Dnp Cannistrà, Moltò, Simeonov. Coach. Uriarte Jon.

Vibo Valentia took full points on in Latina. It’s been four sets in which Vibo proved to be physically in a better shape. They took a two set lead with ease thanks to the excellent Cuban setter Gonzalez, helped by Venezuelan Marquez (22 points with 53& in attack). Latina will have to wait further to gather its first point of the season.

Daniele Ricci (Andreoli Latina): “The performance paid the price for the preparation. When we realised we were competitive, we were already two sets downs. We are not playing with consistency. Our game is not flowing”.

Jon Uriarte (Tonno Calolipo Vibo Valentia): “We came here to take the win. We are working on the team work. We played two very good set but then they got back in it. We did well to get back on track though. We are having a good start to the championship, but there is a long way to go”.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 31-33, 15-13) –

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Sivula, Rauwerdink 13, Pesenti (L), Krumins, Haldane 12, Tuominen, Forni, Molteni 10, Buti 10, Travica 7, Gavotto 28, De Luca, Exiga (L). Coach. Berruto Mauro.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 25, Henno (L), Parodi 5, Fortunato 7, Nuti, Nikolov 21, Grbic 2, Peda, Mastrangelo 11, Patriarca 7, Pieri (L). Dnp Ariaudo, Jeroncic. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

Travica had almost predicted it after the debacle of Trento and the victory finally came. It’s been five long sets, tiring, exhausting but in the end, the little improvement that Berruto desired came out with a good team work. It could have finished on a 3-1 score but sometimes the hardest victories are the most precious ones, even if there is always bit of disappointment for not having taken the full points”.

Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We lacked a bit of fighting spirit and determination, but we are a team that still has to gain confidence and find consistency as soon as possible. I noticed the difficulty to defend on Gavotto, but overall we had similar numbers, what we missed was determination”.

Mauro Berruto (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “We played with great determination and conviction today. This was the difference. We are satisfied with the result, and especially happy to have put up the same numbers as a team like Cuneo. We tried to hit the serve hard, to make it difficult for them, and this strategy probably contributed to the win. What matters, though, is to offer a good show, and I think we managed just that today”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – PRISMA TARANTO 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 28-30, 15-10) –

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Groppi, Sottile 9, Della Lunga 4, Lasko 22, Kovar 12, Curti, Holt 7, Colaci (L), Kromm 17, Howard 8. Dnp Peslac, Galabinov. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

PRISMA TARANTO: De Oliveira 11, Ricciardello (L), Candellaro 2, Montagna (L), Cozzi 10, Moretti 1, Suxho 9, Rodrigo Pinto 27, Abbadi 13, Westphal 4, Quartarone. Dnp Elia, Spescha. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

Not a game for weak hearts at the Pala Olimpia. It’s been full of twists and turns, with only one constant: the aggressiveness and character. Verona wanted it more, led by Sottile, the best on court. They get back on the winning track after two consecutive losses, while Taranto keeps gathering points. Suxho was cautioned and then sent off in the third set before coming back on in the fourth.

Paolo Montagnani (Prisma Taranto): “We reacted poorly to Verona’s provocation and that made us lose our heads. But we always get on court with great will to win and aggressiveness and that is positive”.

Daniele Sottile (Marmi Lanza Verona, MVP): “This is the way to get back on the right track, we have to congratulate ourselves for this victory. We got it more with our hearts that with our technique but this is precisely this character that we had to show. We will go to Perugia with more confidence”.
