Marmi Lanza Verona – Trenkwalder Modena
Past encounters: 10 (8-2 Modena)
Dore Della Lunga (Marmi Lanza Verona): “In this debut game in the PalaOlimpia against Modena, we will need to get on court with the attitude we showed in Cuneo. We’ll have to be aggressive in every area of the game, at the net, reception…Hopefully, this will be a positive game. The work in the gym went very well in the gym”.
Silvano Prandi (Allenatore Trenkwalder Modena): “I have to say that I am curious to see what will have been our progress after an extra week of training all together, and to see how good is Verona, which I believe was the revelation of the first round with its 3-0 win in Cuneo, my ex team. We will do out best to get our first win of the seaosn”.
Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto
Past encounters: 2 (2 for Macerata)
Igor Omrcen (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Given that it’s our home debut, we are evn more motivated than normal. It’s important to start off in front of our fans with a win that would give confidence and enthusiasm to the whole club. In frosinone and Modena, we did good things and against Pineto, we are expected to make further progress in terms of level of play. We will try to win our first points. We are still in the middle of a learning process but this team has great potential”.
Enrique Ronaldo (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “It will be a tough game against one of the strongest team of this league. We will try to do our best. We are obviously a bit late in our preparation, but we are very motivated, we can’t wait to get on court to see what is our potential”.
Andreoli Latina – Prisma Taranto
Past encounters: 12 (7-5 Taranto)
Leondino Giombini (Andreoli Latina): “We have to focus on gathering points right away because our next few games will be very tough. Our first opponent on Sunday, Taranto, is already a difficult one. It will be an important game to see our potential too. Both teams have lost their first encounter so we both need points”.
Paolo Montagnani (Prisma Taranto): “I think this will be a good game. They have a mix of young and experienced players. I worked in 2007-08 in Latina and despite the fact we went down I have great memories and great friends”.
CoprAtlantide Piacenza – Esse-ti Carilo Loreto
Past encounters: 4 (2 successi Piacenza, 2 successi Loreto)
Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “It will be nice to be back in the palaBanca gym. Hopefully we will give our fan a special debut game, different from last year’s. We are in good shape, we have just played two intense game. We have to do well to take the positive and leave out the negative from those wins. Loreto did a great job in its opening game, pushed by the great atmosphere there is there. They showed a very good organisation”.
Luca Moretti (Esse-Ti Carilo Loreto): “We have the honour to start playing on the tricolour court of the Italian Champs, testing the team that won the league last year. Piacenza did not change much so they are ready as a team, and the Super cup is a testimony. That would be nice top repeat the performance of the first two sets against Treviso. The important will be a play a good volleyball”.
Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia – Itas Diatec Trentino
Past encounters: 12 (11-1 Trentino)
Luca Tencati (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We worked a lot and prepared well for the league. We are ready for our debut at home against Trento. We had a lot of problems in recent months in the team, some joined the group recently, which is why it won’t be easy. Trainign is something completely different, we’ll just wait and see what the court says on Sunday. We’re facing a very strong team but that’s better like this, that will enable us to see where we stand”.
Andrea Bari (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It will be a typical game of beginning of season, with two teams trying to find their rhythm. This is why it is difficult to know what kind of volleyball we will be exibiting , and which will be our level and the one of our opponent. We will need to cure every detail and be extremely focused. This team, and I think of the games we played against them in last year’s playoff, is one that can make it really difficult for us”.
Yoga Forlì – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo
Past encounters: 8 (6-2 Cuneo)
Piero Molducci (Yoga Forlì): “The group is very united. The boys are focused and they work hard. I’m expecting a lot nfrom them, they’re young and very motivated. The first game is very tricky but that’s even more motivating”.
Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We’re heading to Forli on Sunday, which should not be as strong as teams like Trento or Treviso, but it’s an extremely motivated team. We will use this encounter to gel together, given that we have new players that have had very few opportunities to train together. We will try to do well, we really want the win”.
Sisley Treviso – RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia
Past encounters: 21 (17-4 Treviso)
Robert Horstink (Sisley Treviso): “Already an important game for us given that the new calendar will give us less time between one game and another. But we’re ready. We’re sorting out a few things in technically and in terms of team work. We are not at our best but we’llhave plenty of determination in front of our fans for the first time”.
Stiamo sistemando parecchie cose dal punto di vista tecnico e dell’intesa in campo, non siamo ancora al massimo ma la determinazione non manca e sarà a mille, considerando che giocheremo per la prima volta davanti al nostro pubblico”.
Jan Stokr (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “Treviso kept Rthe pair Ricardo-Fei: they know each other very well having played together for two years. Spiker Horstink is very powerful and is strong in attack. Gabriele Maruotti is an interesting young talent. I think they are still looking to gel together. If we play like we did in the first two sets against Monza, we can win”.
Serie A2 TIM
Second round
The round will start with Cavriago versus Gioia del Colle, whose game has been forwarded. Indeed, the gym will not be available on Sunday. Both teams from the Emilia region, Cavriago and Bologna started their season with tie-break wins. Bologna will host Santa Croce, still without a point. Mantova will try to bounce back at home against Città di Castello, while Roma, which had a good start, will try to add another three points, this time away from home in Isernia. Interesting macth up between beginner at this level, Versilia, and Padova. The first brilliantely won against BAssano last week, while Padova has to find the fighting spirit it lacked against Ravenna. The latter will be the one rested this weekend.
Crema will face Bassano, while Castellana will host newly promoted Sora, which will make its A2 debut in this game.
