After two consecutive losses against a more determined Montichiari team, Cuneo had enough of it and got back in the series with a 3-1 home victory.

Cuneo did not start brilliantly either this time but it did not let its opponent escape. Fortunato and Curti kept Montichiari guessaing at the net, as Horsting seemed to be human after all after two out-of-this-world performances. However, the guest reacted straight away with Gavotto and Horstink, the usual suspects. Nikolov was going through a dodgy patch and Montichiari tied it at 1-1. Cuneo got back on court ready to fight on every ball, while Montichiari was inaccurate from the serve and that inevitably led to a 2-1 Cuneo lead. An ultra quick fourth set was marked by the fantastic serving of Cuneo. Indeed, Wijmans and Nikolov combined for 8 aces as Cuneo got back in the series with a record fourth set: Nobody had ever won 25-9 in the playoffs.

Vladimir Nikolov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “In the first two encounters, our game was not flowing, while today with a good work on the serve we thrashed them. Hopefully, we’ll be in the right frame of mind to face a very difficult game on Saturday”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “We played face to face until the fourth set, then they started to play strong and we put our heads down without fighting”.
