Macerata is the first to grab its tickets for the A1 Cup Final Four. De Giorgi’s team swept Vibo Valentia to march on to the semi finals. Macerata will have to wait for Thursday’s games to get to know its future opponent in the competition. Indeed, on Saturday it will face the winner of Piacenza versus Montichiari.

Vibo struggled in reception and found it hard to impose its rhythm. On the other side of the net, Macerata had a great team effort, as Omrcen was voted MVP.

Mirko Corsano (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Today, we did a good job of maintaining our rhythm despite the fact that our opponent tried to get us asleep. We did well last season so expectations are high, but we’re not the only one to feel the pressure. On Saturday we’ll start a new ball game against Piacenza or Montichiari”.

Flavio Gulinelli (All. Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We had to change the team during the game because of the tactic or the group dynamic. It’s a shame because there are frustrating situations they don’t deserve. The qualification was a reward but given the way we were thrashed today, it’s as if we’d never come. Our target is to stay up in the league, a target we will have to reach with our fighting spirit more than our technique”.
