SERIE A1 TIM

TRENTO’S TIE BREAK WIN MEANS  MACERATA GETS A POINT BACK

Trentino stays top after the third round return games of the A1 but it proved harder than expected in Padova. The top versus bottom encounter went all the way to the tie-break as Padova save a point in its fight to stay up. Kaziyski and Lasko scored 6 aces, which corresponds to the existing record that had set Bontje and Cleber.

Macerata took all three points against Vibo Valentia and gets one point closer to the leaders Trentino. Igor Omrcen stood out with a massive 32 points. Cuneo registered a straight set victory over Montichiari, who lost for the second time running.

Forli did not manage to follow their breakthrough against Treviso with another win. It was defeated home by Perugia 1-3. Verona just can’t seem to win in the PalaPanini gym, ascoach Emanuele Zanini registered his first home win with Modena. The third win in four games since he took over. Finally Piacenza had the better of Treviso

Antonveneta Padova: Garghella (L), De Togni 7, Gottardo, Meggiolaro, Maniero, Raymaekers 14, Kral 1, Mattera 2, Gato 11, Perazzolo 1, Kromm 23, Maruotti 13. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Antonveneta Padova): “I’m very satisfied with today’s performance. We’re still disappointed with Modena’s game. If we keep playing like this in the next few games, we’ll obtain some useful points to stay up”.

Marco Cosimo Piscopo (Itas Diatec Trentino): “It was a very tough game today, and I did not expect to find such a strong Padova team. Unfortunately, we gifted away the second set, which we could have won easily”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – ACQUA PARADISO GABECA MONTICHIARI 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-20)

Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo: Wijsmans 15, Gonzalez 8, Fortunato 5, Vergnaghi (L), Nikolov 13, Curti 6, Abbadi 5, Biribanti, Platenik 3. DNP Rossi, Nuti, Pieri. Coach. Prandi Silvano.

Silvano Prandi (Coach. Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We lacked a bit of confidence at the start and that’s credit to Montichiari. The absence of Jeroncic was felt especially for his tactical placed serve. We have to find a new balance hoping to find a way not to suffer from his absence”.

Mauro Berruto (Coach. Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “We’re going through a hard time with a couple of players not playing at their best. It will be important to register a victory to overcome this patch. Cuneo had an excellent game with the setter being outstanding, and the spikers converted some tough situations. Nikolov and Wijmans made the difference”.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 26-24)

Lube Banca Marche Macerata: Lebl, Giovi (L), Vermiglio 1, Bartoletti 1, Snippe, Saraceni, Martino 9, Monopoli, Corsano (L), Santana 7, Omrcen 32, Swiderski 16, Podrascanin 9. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

Valerio Vermiglio (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We’re experiencing ups and downs right now, so in such cases it is important to fight for victories, with heart and fighting spirit. We’re working extremely hard to be ready for the crucial games that are coming up. Hopefully, the hard work done on a daily basis will pay off”.

Tuomas Sammelvuo (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We made a lot of mistakes in attack, but apart from that, I think Vibo proved it could play face to face even with a top team like Macerata. It’s a good omen for the Italian Cup coming up”.

YOGA FORLI – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 1-3 (22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 22-25)

Yoga Forl: Henno (L), Molteni 12, Bittar 19, Haldane 5, Redwitz 1, Di Franco 4, Casadei, Loglisci, Patriarca 18. DNP Bendi, Dolfo, Bozko. Coach. Molducci Piero.

Rpa-Luigibacchi.It Perugia: Kovacevic, Savani 18, Nemec, Sintini, Felizardo 10, Pippi (L), Vujevic 12, Stokr 19, Fanuli (L), Bovolenta 12. DNP Serafini, Cruz De Carvalho, Botti. Coach. Di Pinto Vincenzo.

Rafael Redwitz (Yoga Forli): “It’s a shame, I think we deserved at least a point, we deserved to go to the tie-break. We made a couple of mistake too many in the key moment of the game, and maybe we did not serve as well as in the first leg, when we had snatched two points in the fifth set”.

Renato Felizardo (Rpa Luigibacchi.it Perugia): “We wanted to win again away from home after Montichiari and we did just that. I think we were more composed than them at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth set. So I’d say this is a fair result. We’re playing well right now, hopefully we’ll keep doing so”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17)

Trenkwalder Modena: Lee 5, Tencati 1, Kooistra 20, Rinaldi (L), Dennis 14, Sartoretti 1, Santos 15, Travica 2, Pagni, Casoli 9. DNP Smuc, Siebeck. Coach. Zanini Emanuele.

Marmi Lanza Verona: Latelli (L), Parodi 7, Popp 13, Sottile 2, Colaci, Lasko 24, Dehne, Volpini (L), Maric 2, Semenzato 4, Bontje 9. DNP Szabo, Mosterts. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

Emanuele Zanini (Trenkwalder Modena): “This is a crucial win not only for the points but also because in the last four games we won three times. The team needs this kind of situation to re-emerge. Today we were 1-0 down and managed to turn things around. The key was the second set, especially at the net where we played excellently. We’ve worked really hard lately and we’ll keep doing so”.

Alberto Giuliani (Coach. Marmi Lanza Verona): “We are not composed right now. Modena was definitely more consistent and took the three points. We are working a lot right now and we might have lacked brilliance today. It happened as well against Trento. We definitely could have handled better some plays”.

STAMPLAST MARTINA FRANCA – FRAMASIL PINETO 3-2 (25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25, 15-13)

Stamplast Martina Franca: Ricciardello (L), Coscione 3, Stancu 3, Cernic 21, Mastrangelo 14, Corsini 8, Sequeira 16, Quartarone, Rodriguez 14. DNP Guglielmi, Stoijkovic. Coach. D’Onghia Gianni.

Framasil Pineto: Hietanen 13, Fantin 16, Vicini (L), Lampariello (L), Mancini, De Gennaro Leme, Rodrigo 30, Buti 11, Fabroni 3, Ravellino 5, Vigilante. DNP Sborgia, Jago. Coach. Montagnani Paolo.

Matej Cernic ( Stamplast Martina Franca): “it was hard but we deserved the win. Pineto is a team that never gives up but we did well to start with determination in the tie-break following their comeback. They played really well at the net and their dig was excellent in the third and fourth set. When the reception was perfect, we just went on a roll but we had more difficulty when they forced the serve, with more predictable plays”.

Paolo Montagnani (Coach. Framasil Pineto): “I’m satisfied with my team. My players played like warriors and it’s not easy to comeback in such an electric atmosphere and against class players like Cernic. Our team characteristics are well-known, Rivaldo is our main man in attack and we are focused with the block and dig. In the fifth set, Martina clinched the win with two digs and counter attacks”.

COPRA NORDMECCANICA PIACENZA – SISLEY TREVISO 3-1 (20-25; 25-22; 25-20; 25-22)

Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza: Rak 13, Pampel 19, Insalata, Meoni, Marshall 17, Boninfante 1, Zingaro (L), Zlatanov 18, Durante (L), Bjelica 4. DNP Grassano, Bravo, Dunnes. Coach. Lorenzetti

Sisley Treviso: Fei 23, Hubner 6, Papi 9, Farina (L), Saitta, Antonov, Endres 6, Cisolla 20, Daldello (L), Garcia 1. DNP Dolfo, Kohut, Gallotta. Coach. Dall’Olio

Christian Pampel (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we took advantage of their mistake. It’s the first time that I play from the first minute and I’m happy with the way things went, but to play with those two setters makes things really easy, despite the fact that we’ve been training for very little time together”.

Francesco Dall’Olio (Sisley Treviso): “We’re going through a very delicate period. Once more the key was the serve and reception. In the first set, we did better than them in that department but then, Piacenza took some risks and we were predictable. To win against a setter like Ricardo, this is the only way and Picaneza managed to do just that”.
