Bologna stopped, Santa Croce sole leader
The 5th round of the A2 was full of twist and turns, surprises. Thanks to its 3-0 sweep of Mantova, who lost for the third times in a row this season, Santa Croce is now walking alone on top of the league.
Bologna suffered its first defeat of the season at Isernia, as Gromadowski’s 26 points proved insufficient to keep the team’s unbeaten run going. Alberti’s team only took one set and was therefore caught in second place by Bassano, had obtained an impressive away win at Castelfidardo.
There were two upsets: First, Goia del Colle snatched it against Latina at the end of an amazing tie-break, 30-28. Then, Catania earned three crucial points from its encounter against Rome, who can certainly not think about promotion for now but rather look over its shoulder. Castellana Grotte has now 6 points in the table thanks to its home win over Crema, still without the injured Botto and Ricardo. Cavriago is now level on points with Loreto as It got rid of Moretti’s team 3-0.
