Latina – Nothing to do for Latina, with nothing more to ask from the championship against Itas Diatec Trentino after a first place which they take with authority inspired by a greeat Nikola Grbic and led in attack by Matey Kaziyski.
Three sets won by the guests despite Andreoli never lost their dignity on court.
In the end the higher technical level of Stoytchev’s men has prevailed together with the eagerness to end in first place for the playoffs.
Giordano Mattera (Andreoli Latina): “It is a shame about how it ended. We wasted to many chances but it is noone’s fault. We should have scored points in the direct challenges and not wait for the last chance against Taranto”.
Cosimo Piscopo (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We are happy about today’s victory and the final success in the regular season. We deserved it. Now we are thinking about the pay offs where we want to do well”.

Perugia – Perugia needed a miracle to conquer the play offs for the fifth time in a row. The magic would ahve arrived by scoring three points against Cuneo and other results. They stopped at the first hurdle. Exactly on 2-0 for Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo, who at PalaEvangelisti wins for 3-0 but despite that result they stay behind Trento in the standings.
First set taking advantage of Wijsmsns attacks (62%) and Lasko’s (57%) with Perugia struggling to keep up.
0-5 behind in the second set, Di Pinto replaces Stokr and Kromm with Tuerlinckx e Kovacevic. Freshness gives great results 10-10 and 16-14. Then Wijsmans’ service puts things straight again and RPA’s hopes for the playoffs fade away.
The third set is a proforma (even for Cuneo given Trento has already won).
Renato Felizardo (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played our game, they changed their attitude after Di Dpinto’s arrival but we have been stronger today. The quarterfinals against Modena or Montichiari? I have no preference”
Vincenzo Di Pinto (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia) “Our play offs hopes stopped in Milan, today it was very difficult. We did great in the last few rounds anyway. Surely we would have liked to play against Cuneo with the right tension, but after a month like this we had a free mind”.
Mvp: Wout Wijsmans (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)

Roma – Roma scores by taking over Macerata and finishing 4th in the standings. But there was a lot of suffering having to win at tie break against Famigliulo Corigliano who are saying good bye to Serie A1.
Their motivation was higer than M. Roma’s for 2 sets. Roma struggled in reception but even more in attack. For Corigliano, great offensive performances by spikers Maric and Kovacevic.
Two sets behind and with Tofoli in for Coscione, M. Roma Volley has reacted with pride and pushed by the news coming from Montichiari, where Gabeca won 3-0 on Macerata. When Corigliano found out about the point scored by Padova, condemning them to demotion, they tried to say goodbye to the top league with a victory of prestige.
They did not manage that but the numerous supporters still apllauded their team.
Paolo Tofoli (M. Roma Volley): “We suffered a lot. Corigliano ended up being a hard opponent. We were good at reacting when we were two sets behind. We should have played better and we will have to do that from wednesday against Macerata”
Pino De Patto (general manager Famigliulo Corigliano): “the result was obvious, but we did everything to win. It was a beautiful match with a good level of game up to the second set. My compliments to the audience and the technical staff for the great professionalism they showed today, despite knowing about what would have happened. We paid for the home defeat against Montichiari on the 22nd of march”.

Montichiari – In the first set Acqua Paradiso goes wild, with Sala (8 points: 4 aces, 2 blocks) leading the team up to 25-16. You could touch determinationa and attitude.
More of a fight in the second set, with Macerata starting well (5-1) but Montichiari catching up (8-8). It is head to head up to 25-23 in the end with PalaGeorge going mad for the qualifying to the Playoffs.
In the third set Paradiso is still leading the dances with Tiberti as a great director.
Acqua Paradiso Gabeca wins the last round of the regular season with an heavy and emotional 3-0 taking them to the 7th place in the standings.
After 5 seasons they managed to reach their objective: the playoffs.
Daniel Howard (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “I am very happy for my team and the Club. After 5 years we managed to get in the plaoffs only thanks to our own efforts and that is a great satisfaction. We got our attitude out and tonight we played really well, everything worked and it was beautiful”.
Andrija Geric (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This is a hard defeat for us because we wanted to finish 4th. Now we have to think about the quarterfinals, also because they will all be hard matches to win the championship.
We have three days to recover mentally, to analyse our mistakes and not make them on wednesday”.

First set played head to head: Castellano and Vissotto pushing the guests, Nascimento (9 points) leading the yellow&bleu. Balance in the first part of the second one too, then Taranto pushes on the accellerator with Vissotto and conquers the set.

Piacenza – Padova is safe thanks to the tiw break against Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza who finish in 6th place in the Regular Season facing Sisley on wednesday.
The home team show their offensive superiority with Zlatanov (16-10). Coach Lorenzetti tries the bench with Boninfante for Meoni. After the TTO Piacenza continues dominating and they close with Zlatanob on 25-18.
In the second set Padova finds a reaction led by Diaz who proves his physical strength. Piacenza makes mistakes (12-16) but after the TTO they come back (15-17). Padova keeps going and wins 21-25.
The following set is fought head to head and Zlatanov gets a yellow card for protesting allowing Padova to be ahead 13-16. Piacenza comes back thanks to another yellow card for protesting, this time given to Esko (17-17). It is 21-20 then 23-20 and finally 25-22 for Piacenza.
A very balanced 4th set with Padova leading 15-16, 17-19, 18-22 and closing for 21-25.
Piacenza wins tie break worth nothing towards the standings (15-10).
Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova): “Well deserved safety, the club hasn’t got a great organic but they pay our wages regularly unlike others. Well done De Marchi always positive at important moments”.

Treviso – Sisley Volley’s match lasts 2 sets assuring a third place in the standings facing Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza in the quarterfinals on wednesday. A final victory worth nothing for Sparkling out of the playoffs.
Renan confirm Davide Saitta, Trento’s hero, setter instead of Pujol and despite the good start, Milano without Millar and Vicini, give up to Hubner, Gustavo and Fei’s amazing serves. If you add 11 block for the two MB’s and the good percentages in attack, the two sets won are easily explained.
At this point the light goes off for Renan’s men, aware of their third place already conquered. Sparkling celebrates the end of the season with a victory with their supporters.
Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “Two perfect sets then Milano put Samica in and he did great things serving and digging, turning the match around. At the end of the 3rd set we found out the results from the other grounds and the team relaxed a bit, losing the control over the match. It was a long match anyway, a good training for someone like Saitta who has to get used to play matches like this one, shame about the defeat, but let’s not make a drama because we have come out third.
We are third just like last year, with the same amount of points, so let’s say we are there in terms of superstition. We are facing Piacenza in the quarterfinals, we just faced them in the Champions League, they are a great team, but we are going to go for it on wed here at PalaVerde, with great confidence and in the playoffs we will be different from tonight”.
Matteo Martino (Sparkling Milano): “We relaxed after the second set so we played with a piece of mind, given the plaoffs were unreachable anyway. Being young, playing without pressure makes the difference and we proved it getting a great satisfaction out of it because not everyone wins at PalaVerde against Sisley.
It was the crowning of a positive season, shame about the points lost along the way which did not put us in the playoffs”.
MVP: Matteo Martino (Sparkling Milano)
