Montichiari – The derby between Acqya Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari and Sparkling Milano, with double the points at stake for the play offs started balanced but then sees Velascos’s team imposing hte right accelleration.
The home team finds Simone Tuberti setter once again and he ends up being the key to the first set victory. Hi setting is lucid and precise, giving all the attacking men the chance to show what they can do. Above all, Peter Veres, who closes the set with 83% positivity.
The home team seems more reactive and determined in the second set too, despite more mistakes made compared to the previous match. Velasco’s men confirm their attack shading off Muro and Gavotto.
Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari can count on a better blocking and Milano will have to wait for the third set to raise their voice.
Riccis’ team reopens the match with a coral game. Better the service and reception, but especially the points snatched away from the diggin make the difference. Milano takes advantage of Montichiari’s slowing down in the 4th set. It is a battle of nerves and Milano shows more coldness. Velasco tries to replace Gavotto with Bojovic but Sparkling wants and obtains the tie break.
Montichiari lose their cynism while Milan doen not and starts on 4-1 and Martino switches the home team off for a victory that smells of play offs.
This was Milan’s only away victoy in the second leg.
Simone Tiberti (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “We started the match very well but at the end of the sets we lacked in cynism and determination. Our injuries had a negative impact considering Loris Manià and I did very little behind. We still have two matches to get in the play offs, we are not giving up”.
Dragan Travica (Sparkling Milano): “We were very tense to start with but we were patient by not giving up despite our game was not doing so well. We believed in it at all times and we found our game point by point. At tie break we were very good and we proved the strength of our group”.
MVP: Peter Veres (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari)

Latina – Lube leaves with three important points also given M. Roma’s defeat.
In the first set Latina keeps the balance up to 13-13 then Macerata’s setter throws the team in reception with his service. Macerata accellerates and Zaytsev’s entrance for Mattera is worth nothing.
the second set sees Andreoli keeping up to start with but a couple of mistakes give De Giorgi’s men another advantage and they win the set for 25-20.
The third set is more of a battle with the teams going head to head, but in the end Omrcen closes the set. Macerata closes for 3-0.
Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We were good at not letting them get exited in their own home. We are working towards the play offs, that is why it was important to find confidence in our game, looking at a very hard post season”.
Flavio Gulinelli (Andreoli Latina): “We tried but it was not easy. Anyway this was not the match we had to win at all costs. Now we have to concentrate on our next appointment and I am sure this team will not betray the expectations”.
MVP: Valerio Vermiglio (Lube Banca Marche Macerata)

Modena – Modena after precious points to change the negative trend of the second leg and Corigliano after points towards safety.
Modena starts strong from the beginning and keeps the advantage up to the second TTO (16-8). Many the mistakes after that but they manage to win for 25-22 in the end.
In the second set Famigliulo shows an extra gear and they go on 6-8. On 9-12 Giani puts in Nascimento but the change does not seem to benefit the team (13-18). From now on Famigliulo manages their advantage well winning it for 20-25.
Third set on and off played head to head up to 11-11. Cimone goes on 14-11 abd keeps going up to 25-19.
Fourth set full of uncertainty and upside downs with Dennis reching 2000 points in the Regular Season.
Then Modena’s balck out with too many mistakes in attack. Corigliano recuperats 5 points and goes on 4-7 thanks to an ace by Padroscanin. Cimone’s reaction is signed by Nascimento, match MVP. Thanks to his attacking, Corigliano loses confidence little by little. It ends 25-21.
Andrè Nascimento (Cimone Modena): “We are very happy about this victory. It is a very important success obtained by the group. We were able to react even when we faced difficulties. Now we need to carry on this way to reach the play offs”.
Alberto Giuliani (Famigliulo Corigliano): “The positive thing is the fact that we were able to fight. We have been fighting from the beginning of the year but we do not always manage to reach the top. I can only regret that we were not able to get in the match in the first set. Modena was very good at blocking, that is what made the difference”.
MVP: Andrè Nascimento (Cimone Modena)

Roma – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo dominates M. Roma from the beginning to the end of the match and deserves to win by 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-15). Too many absences for Roma to worry healthy Cuneo.
At the last minute Serniotti has to give up on Marshall too, on the top of Savani and Mastrangelo.
Nothing worked for Roma. the attack without Marshall and Savani could have been difficult but they hoped that with Romero and Molteni there could be a bit of precision in reception. But no. M. Roma closed with 27% perfect reception with Molteni and Romero around 20% with Henno (42%) as part of their negative performance.
Coscione ran everywhere before being replaced by Tofoli in the second set.
Cuneo did not have many problems and closed on 70% in attack, with Wijsmans on 79%, Parodi on 70% and Lasko on 62%. Great service performance too with 12 aces. The blocking scored 9 points. Despite Vergnaghi’s bad performance, even the reception did quite well with 41%.
Michal Lasko (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played against half a team, Roma did not have the replacements and they have not been able to change the cards on the table. We did very well overall, especially with our service”.
Hubert Henno (M. Roma Volley): “ther is not much to say. Nothing worked. Let’s forget about it straight away and close the regular season with our heads up”.
MVP: Javier Gonzalez (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)
