Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza’s dream to win their first Indesit Champions League stops at tie break. Lorenzetti’s men were defeated in the final for 3-2 by Dinamo Kazan.
the Italian team regrets a second set lost for 24-26 but led by 22-24.
Lorenzetti lines up the team who conquered the final by beating Sisley Treviso. Simeonov on the bench due to an injury, Bravo on court.
The first set is decided at the second TTO after a great initial balance when Zlatanov takes his team on 13-15. Then Granvorka signes the start of the decisive break and it is 19-25.
Back to balance in the second set head to head on each ball. Again at the second TTO the teams are only one point away (16-15). It is head to head up to the end which is singned by Dinamo for 26-24, despite Copra was 2 points ahead on 22-24.
the third set sees Piacenza taking off in the final stages again. From 17-18 to 17-24 then 18-25.
But Copra Nordmeccanica has to deal with the Russian’s great fourth set who go on 4-1 straight away then 10-8. Stanley hits from everywhere and Kazan wins for 25-17.
Tie break: Ball & Co go on 3-1 thanks to Zlatanov’s foul from behind the three metres and soon after that the American setter scores an ace for 8-4. Sides are changed but the music stayes the same. Bravo tries to keep the hopes up (9-7) but Bogolomov conquers the match ball (14-9). Zlatanov keeps the match going but then he spikes the ball out giving Dinamo Kazan the victory on 15-10.
With this defeat the Italian Team’s en plein fades away in hte European Cups after M. Roma’s victory in the Cev Cup and Modena in the Challenge Cup.
the two successes though bring Italy back to stardom in the continent after the lack of them in the last season.
