Macerata – It is going to be a peaceful Easter for Lube Banca Marche. The white&red of F. De Giorgi confirm their 4th place in the standings with their victory after two consecutive defeats. Taranto is beaten with a sharp 3-0 (32-30, 25-23, 25-16), which anyhow hides the balance on court for most of the first two sets. With Paparoni back on the bench but still unable to play, the team finds in Vermiglio (MVP) its leader: his the decisive ace on 32-30 in the first set, led by the guests for long periods of it, then betrayed by Vissotto in the end (3 consecutive fouls from behind the 3 metres).

To Lube the fact they kept going despite some initial difficulties in attack, leaning on the middle blockers and a growing Omrcen, vital in the following set (top scorer, closing the set on 11 points and the match on 18.57% pos. in attack on 28 balls), when Taranto’s diagonal player comes back strong (8 points for Vissotto).

Notwo ways about it in the 3rd set, with De Giorgi’s team imposing with a net 25-16 showing a great digging, with Corsano the star of them all.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Vital was our ability to stay on court in the first set, when we managed to take the mistakes then win in the end. This must be our journey, my team’s strenght is being able to live with all kinds of adversities coming up through the match. Three important points for the morale, given that after the TIM Cup victory we registered 2 consecutive defeats, the last one being very hugly. In the past two weeks we worded really hard, pumping a lot in the gym. We want to get to the play offs in the best possible way, and even that victory will be good for our mind”.

Radames Lattari (Prisma Taranto): “A match that, despite the final result, was very balanced, especially in the first two sets where with a few less mistakes we could have written a different script”.

MVP: Valerio Vermiglio (Lube Banca Marche Macerata)

Piacenza – The official test of the Indesit Champions League’s semifinals is a match that starts slowly and with a little agonism, led by the serving mistakes. Breaking the stilness is Gustavos’ service which brings Sisley to 18-14. The opponents do not manage to come back and Treviso wins 25-17.

In the second set Sisley Treviso doubles up with a performance that enhance their attack especially Fei’s with 75%. On the other side Piacenza does not manage to be effective and play with continuity.

Copra Nordmeccanica gets back in the match thanks to the third set dominated by their blocking and digging. Treviso on the other hand makes 10 mistakes (point) against the 4 of the opponents.

News in the staring six for Sisley with Gabriele Maruotti replacing Papi. Piacenza finds confidence in their own abilities and with Simeonov they score the break which sets them ahead. Papi is back in but Sisley’s reception is put to the test. Piacenza wins 25-19.

It is in the last set that you can see Treviso’s cynism enhancing their individualities, little great balls that become a moral capital to spend in a week on the European’s stage.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “The fact that the two teams will meet in the Champions League did not influence the match much, they teams know each other already and the opponent’s cards are all on the table. Well done Sisley that showed to be able to come out when it counts once again”.

MVP: Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso)

Sparkling Milano – Antonveneta Padova 3-0 (25-19; 25-18; 28-26)

Sparkling Milano puts three golden points in their safe towards the play offs beating Antonveneta Padova for 3-0. A match that was balanced only at the very beginning and at the end of the third set. The match opens with a great balance on court, also thanks to a Perazzolo who manages to break through the opponent’s block with continuity. On13-13 Nikic goes in and with his service he is vital for the break worth the first set (25-19).  In the second set Sparkling has not problems in attack and goes quickly towards success (78%) also thanks to 4 blocks and 3 aces. Some mistakes on the other side and it is 25-18. The third set is practically identical apart from the two consecutive aces by Diaz (4-3). Travica, on the other side, spreads the balls with greats experence and Milano goes on +6. When the fate seems already written, Padova gets back. Another ace by Diaz and two blocks reopen the match. It’s 28-26 in the end.

Daniele Ricci (Sparkling Milano): “A 3-0 is always better than expected. Today we have been fairly tidy, the score was on our side. We have tried to lose the final set but we gave some thrilling to the match. the boys were good, attentive and concentrated. At tensed times the team did not break up and I would like to stress Nikic’s performance who played really well, he stayed lucid at all times and worked well with his blocking. Gettin someone back for Montichiari? We hope so, maybe Samica and Rosalba will give us a hand, it would be important even if the ones who played in the past few matches did well”.

Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova): “We played wiith tension and you could see that, we went down in attack while Sparkling kept steady and only in the third set we came back thanks to our service, but we did not manage to make the results. Giombini did great at blocking, serving and attack: he made the difference. I trained him for 3 years and I know him well, but we obviously did not find the right strategy to stop him. Now it is hard, we need to carry on working day after day. Milano’s psycological condition is winning, they are calm because they just think about playing and they give their best; they deserve the play offs because they react really well. Milano also has a top level team. It will be hard against Perugia too, we need to play it”.

MVP: Leondino Giombini (Sparkling Milano)

Famigliulo Corigliano – Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari 1-3 (24-26; 23-25; 25-23; 22-25)

Refs: Cipolla – Castagna

Notes – Spectators 2200, takings 13000, set lenght: 28’, 28’, 28’, 24’; tot. 108’.

Corigliano – A wasting Famigliulo loses the first two sets badly giving it all away to Montichiari. The good reaction in the 3rd set, which they won, is written off by a bad management of the 4th one, which practically sees Montichiari ahead until 25-22. Looking at the teams, no Manià and Howard for Montichiari, as we knew; Corigliano starts with Maric diagonal (prefered to Biribanti) and Ravellino MB for Padroscanin.

Julio Velasco (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari):  “It was a strange match, played on attitude and determination. Well done to my players for managing it, also thanks to Corigliano’s many mistakes. They were very tense and often the eagerness to win has the opposite effect. They got many serves wrong at important times, for example, we were good at managing the various moments”.

Francesco Cadeddu: (Famigliulo Corigliano): “We are trying to prove that we are worth this cathegory at all costs but even today, that our direct opponents lost, we did not manage to get out of the penultimate position. The many problemas we faced have had a big impact and today, Biribanti’s injury had one too. Now we need to grab points from everywhere in these last three rounds”.

MVP: Davide Quartarone (Montichiari)

Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo – Andreoli Latina 3-0 (25-23; 25-16; 25-22)

Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo: Parodi 7, Gonzalez 5, Vergnaghi (L), Lasko 2, Rosso 16, Curti 5, Abbadi 9, Muraguti Yared, Felizardo 10. N E Wijsmans, Fortunato, Battilotti. coach Prandi

Refs: Caltabiano – Barbero

Cuneo – Bre Banca Lannutti impose themselves with a quick 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22) over Andreoli Latina, conquering the three necessary points to keep the second place in the standings. Mattia Rosso the match MVP with 14 points. With this match, Michal Lasko achieves 200 blocks in Serie A, between the championship and the Italian Cup.

Bre Banca Lannutti goes on court with a revisited starting six once again, still unavailable are captain Wijsmans and MB Fortunato, so Silvano Prandi lines up Curti with Felizardo, Rosso with Gonzalez, Parodi and Abadi spikers, Vergnaghi libero. Typical formation for Andreoli Latina, the only differences are Tomassetti for Riad and Scudieri libero.

Latina’s guests, after safety, start  the first set in their favour but they are soon reached by Prandi’s men on 7-7 then up to 17-17. Gonzalez & Co. take off and win the set in the end.

Confident start for Cuneo in the second set, led by them from the start and won 25-16.

In the third set is Bre Banca Lannutti who lead the dances again with young Parodi and Rosso, while Latina reacts at the end with Gilson’s attitude, scoring 9 points, but that is not enough to stop Cuneo that closes on 25-22 thanks to Rosso.

Silvano Prandi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I expected a more difficult match, it was on and off, Latina is very motivated and in the end of this season they are after points for safety. We were good at stopping the with the attack. I gave space to Mattia Rosso to allow him to get confidence, both him, Curti and Parodi have reached a good level. In the next few matches we will look for the points necessary to confirm our current 2nd place, which we want to hank onto”.

Mattia Rosso (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo):“I am happy about the confidence Silvano Prandi gave me. I always try and do my best and tonight it went particularly well. This was an easy match on paper, but we know that they are thirsty ofr points; we were good at starting well from the first set”.

MVP: Mattia Rosso (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)
