One minute of silence in Chiara Lubich’s memory

Trento –  M. Roma Volley starts the match against Itas Diatec Trentino full of confidence, wanting to recover before the Cev Cup’s Final Four which is around th corner.

Serniotti’s men attack the home team from the first serve and they heat up Bari and Kaziyski’s arms. M. Roma Volley’s first runner of the match is on 3-6. Trento is determined though, they learned to take it in and start again in this championship and they go on 6-6.

The match proceedes break by break with M. Roma going on 7-10. this is the last important advantage they have though because Itas, led by a great Nikolov, accellerates bending the romans’ legs. Just to let you know, the Bulgarian diagonal player, in this set, scores 7 points (2 aces, 4 attacks and 1 block).

The start of the 2nd set is still in favour of M. Roma Volley: Kooistra and Marshall seem unreachable but the guests seem to lack the strength to knock the opponents out. A weakness that Trento does not forgive. on 23-23 Vladimir Nikolov is serving (MVP) and he gets the set point with one ace and a mistake by Coscione will give it to Trento.

There is not much to say about the 3rd set. Trento carries on with their unstoppable march. The numbers are all on their side: 71% in attack, 5 aces and 3 blocks.

The absolute star of this last set is Matey Kaziyski: his 100% in attack in 5 attempts and 2 aces, stop Roma who cannot get out of their negative trend with their 4th consecutive defeat for 3-0 (championship and TIM Cup).

When Kaziyski puts the last ball down, PalaTrento explodes for their 11th consecutive victory in the championship, matching their record series of the 2003/04 season. A regular season they finished in 1st place.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We have played a good match but not a perfect one. There was one too many mistakes. A special applause for V. Nikolov for how he resolved the second set with that ace on 23-23″.

Ivan Miljkovic (M. Roma Volley): “Trento played a good match, but we were not there. We made the same mistakes and imprecisions as with Piacenza. We need to find ourselves as a team again, this is our aim”.

MVP: Vladimir Nikolov (Itas Diatec Trentino)
