Treviso – The Serie A1 TIM Monday Night comes full of novelties. Many of the teams icons are not there, left to rest as a precaution. Sisley Treviso gives up on Alberto Cisolla, Stefan Hubner (in the roster but not in the starting six) and Gabriele Maruotti. Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo comes to PalaVerde without Wijsmans and Fortunato, prefering Rosso to the ex Michal Lasko in the starting six.
The home team is not fluent from the beginning. The attack and diggin do not manage to be effective, Fei closes the set with a poor 12%. On the other side of the net Gonzalez tames better balls from his digging men and distributes them with precision amongst his attacking ones. In this first set brazilian players Abbadi and Felizardo shine, real pain in the nexk for Treviso’s digging.
The home team gets back in the match straight away thanks to more attention given to the attack and digging. Treviso seems to run away and on 14-10 Prandi calls on the teams’ mind: in Marlon Muraguti for Gonzalez. Cuneo’s winning move comes when they stop making the mistakes they made in the fist part of the set.
2-0 behind, Renan Dal Zotto tries Saitta again. Treviso loses track and Cuneo goes on 2-6 with precision and simplicity, taking advantage of an off beat blocking.
Treviso tries to get back in the match on 6-6 but they find another accelleration by Cuneo who diggs important balls, well managed by Parodi and Abbadi.
Treviso gets back thanks to Fei’s attack and a brave Saitta, but everytime they get even, Bre Banca Lannutti places the winning break.
Like with Lasko’s blocks which stop Fei twice and it ends on 21-25. Cuneo celebrated a well deserved 3-0 victory and starts running after Trento.
Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “We looked bad today, nothing worked and it was certainly our worse match. Despite the absences we should have played in a different way. I tried to ask for a different mental approach and more attitude during the TTO’s, but we did not manage it. Even Saitta and Novotny’s changes did not bring the reaction I hoped for”.
Valerio Curti (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Let’s enjoy thins victory because winning for 3-0 at PalaVerde does not happen very often. It was not a great match, there were too many mistakes, but we won well. It is an important victory for our standings because it is a step ahead towards the first position and with the injured coming back soon, we weill be ready for the final rush”.
MVP: Manius Abbadi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)
