SEVEN THE TEAMS WANTING TO ACCESS THE TIM CUP A1
All in one night. Seven Serie A1 TIM formations will have their last chance to access the TIM CUP Final Eight A1 tomorrow evening.
The top four teams in the standings (Cuneo, Roma, Trento e Modena) have already got a pass to play.
One of the decisive matches to access the Final Eight 2008 will be played at Macerata’s Fontescodella. Lube Banca Marche will meet Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari. Lube only needs one set to go through while Montichiari will have to do better to beat the aggressive competition coming from Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza who is playing in Padova.
The White&Red have history on their side because they won 4 out of the 7 matches played in Veneto. For Bruno Bagnoli’s team the last home victory against Piacenza in the Regular Season goes back to the 28th of september 2003. Piacenza won 10 out of the 14 matches played.
To be followed is also the challenge between Sparkling Milano and Sisley Treviso (Live on SKY SPORT EXTRA). Daniele Ricci’s men arrive with the full team, also thanks to Lukasz Kadziewicz’s full recovery; a Sparkling in a puzzle version the ones which got back together in record time for the challenge against the Italian Champions: Millar, Gardner and Nikic have just got back to Italy. Different situation for Treviso who will have to test Fei and Horstink’s conditions, just like Cisolla and Hubner’s ones, who have just come back from the Olympics qualifying tournament.
Leader Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo will host RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia playing their last chance to get into 8th place. Perugia, in fact, needs three points hoping the three teams ahead of them will get nothing. Prandi’s men, on the other hand, only need one point to be certain to stay in first place, making them Winter Champions.
Going for it is M. Roma Volley in their long distance challenge with Itas Diatec Trentino. The Romans will play in Corigliano who only needs one point to keep the second place in the standings. Trento will host Andreoli Latina and will need to win the whole jackpot and hope Roma will lose at the same time.
Cimone Modena, on the other hand, needs points to stay in 4th place. The formation is currently ahead in terms of sets won compared to Padova, Macerata and Treviso. The challenge in Taranto against Prisma is not one of the easiest though. Radames Lattari’s place (third before last) is not a safe one for his players. In the previous championship, Taranto won by 3-0; it was their second ever victory against Modena in eight matches.
