Latina – In the Serie A1 TIM 10th round early match, Andreoli Latina plays on their service to find and minimize the superior technical level of Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo. It is the winning tactic because when the service works, Latina plays evenly with Cuneo. They manage that in the middle of the set when thanks to Zanuto’s block they take over (11-10). Andreoli shows as much vulnerability though when receiving especially if Michal Lasko is serving. It is the Italian International diagonal player who gives brings his team further to then win the first set, where Cuneo shows something more in attack, Wijsmans spikes with an eloquent 83%, and blocking.
The second set starts with two aces by Gilson, the captain and brasilian diagonal player is the team leader on court: him and Riley are the only ones doing something in attack, with Zanuto on a bad day. At the second TTO, Cuneo is 18-16 ahead, but Lascko opens up the weaknesses in recepition. The teams then play the final rush evenly when Wijsmans and Fortunato’s class, blocking – roof on Cardona, come out.
Two sets ahead, Cuneo relaxes a bit. They make a mistake because the head to head has lit up Gulinelli’s men attitude again who are coming back with a different kind of determination: they dominate the set overall and Prandi, also to give his men a break in a set that is already decided, calls Abbadi, Lasko, Fortunato and Wijsmans to the bench. Latina does not give up this time and re-opens the match.
The true Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo goes back on court in the forth and final set. Attentive and cynical, they close the fighting with a 1-6 straight away which breaks Latina’s legs. The team has no strength to stop the leader who shines again after the stop in the Indesit Champions League against AC Cannes.
