Notes: Before the start of the TIM All Star Volley, one minute of silence was taken to remember the 27 year old Lazio supporter Gabriele Sandri, who tragically died this morning in Arezzo while traveling to the Inter Lazio football match.
TIM All Star Volley 2007 marks the debut of Andrea Anastasi’s new Italy and curiosity is present amongst the 4123 spectators at Forli Palafiera.
The first Italian formation signed Anastasi-Gardini is in the hands of setter Coscione with diagonal player Lorenzo Perazzolo, Bovolenta and Sala in the middle, Zlatanov and Martino spikers diggers with debuting Loris Manià juggling digging and emotions.
The National team sis not go on court to play any old match. You can tell from the very beginning. The attitude is full of determination and wanting to enteirtain, Italy starts its run straight away.
Many are the mistakes made by HArman Kardon All Star A2 that seems to be giving the set away but Molducci’s team breaks into the azzurri’s digging and goes to 24-24. Zlatanov and Sala close the fight.
In the second set the Azzurri’s second debut. It is Dragan Travica who replaces Manuel Coscione. The spikers diagonal changes as well with Paparoni and Savani instead of Martino and Zlatanov.
Harman Kardon All Star A2 finds a bit of tightness this time, losens up and scares Italy going on 18-20. The national team does not break up and finds the 20-20 with Cristian Savani’s block.
The Serie A2 stars go for it though. they dig and attack with their heart, grabbing three set points. In Piero Molducci’s selection, setter Ronaldo did great.
Noone gives up, noone has the strenght to close it. With Paparoni and Sala, Italy gets the break that sees them as winners.
Gabriel Chocholak (Harman Kardon All Star A2) – “The important thing is that the audience had a good time and I think they did. It is a shame about the defeat even though we gave the National team a hard time in the second set. We made too many digging mistakes”
Cristian Savani (Italia) – “Good match, Anastasi has brought a new spirit to the National team. There is plenty of enthusiasm and he is helping us to get closer as a group. He was very clear with us, saying that if we want to play for the Azzurri we must give our best all the times and put more effort into it than the others. This is an extra push in order to do well”.
