Copra Berni Piacenza is the third semifinalist. By beating Cimone Modena also at the PalaPanini, conquers the semifinals in two matches. One side of the draw, will see the match Roma-Treviso (Game 1 of Semifinal on Tuesday in Rome). On the other side, Piacenza is waiting for the winning team of the quarter Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo & Itas Diatec Trentino (Game 3 will be played on Sunday in Cuneo, at 6.05PM, live on SKY Sport 2). Trento has actually lost at home tonight at the tiebreak.

MODENA – After two hours of show and emotions, in a sold out PalaPanini, Cimone Modena loses 1-3 against Copra Berni Piacenza in game 2 of the playoff quarter finals: the result allows Piacenza to reach the playoff.
Modena plays with Ricardinho-Sartoretti, Felipe-Murilo, Giani-Cardona and Casòli libero. Piacenza answers with Grbic-Simeonov, Zlatanov-Marshall, Cozzi-Bovolenta, Sergio libero.
Primo set very intense. Piacenza starts strong with Marshall & Zlatanov, Modena does not give up and with Giani & Felipe keep fighting. At the end of the set Zlatanov score the crucial breack and Piacenza wins the first set.
In the second set Cimone force the rithym: good serves and blocks (5 in the set) parziale). Copra has passing problems, Modena take advantage with a super Sartoretti (7 points) and flies in the score (8-4 16-9 21-14). Bruno Bagnoli replaces Felipe with Nalbert and Modena closes the set 25-17.
The third set has been playing point by point. Great volleyball and show. Marshall in one side and Felipe on the other are the most incisives. At end also the second set goes to Piacenza with the score of 25-27.
Very beautiful also the 4th set. Everything is decided at the end: on 25-24 Cimone has the ball to go to the tiebreak, but Sartoretti is blocked. Zlatanov serves and two aces will give the pass to Piacenza for the semifinal (25-27).
At the end of the match emotional goodbye to Andrea Giani from the crowd. Standing ovation, applauses that did not want to end for the capitain of Cimone Volley and one of the greatest italian athletes, that leave the played volley to become a coach, starting from the boys of the youth nationsl teams.
“It has really been my last match? I think so – Giani has said – There hve been moments in which an athlete must make important choices. I am happy, I am really close to this Club and to this city: let’s see what the Club has to offer me…. We will see.. within the beginning of the next week!”.

TRENTO – Cuneo reopens the series by winning at PalaTrento at the end of a two faces match. Better Bre Banca Lannutti in the first two sets, thanks to the power of the serves and for the efficiency in attack, also for the middleblockers (Omrcen basically unstoppable for the whole match) and for the spikers. Trento, stopped by the tension, started to play as they know only at the end of the second set with some important Hubner blocks and with Nascimento that did start to play better.
The brasilian has carried his teammates in the victory of the third and of the fourth set, when Cuneo had more problems in attack especially with Wijsmans, Giba but also Lasko often stopped by the block made by Trento. Bre Banca Lannutti did not use 7 match points in the third set and did not play at all in the 4th set where Trento, carried by the usual and amazing home crowd, had an easy life. In the tiebreak, when everyone was expecting Trento to finsh the recovery, arrives a great set played by Cuneo and the team coached by Prandi wins the set 15-8 with 4 blocks on Nascimento. So it is time to see what will happen on Sunday during Game 3 in Cuneo.
Lattari (Coach Trento): “It has been a very intense match, with a lot of emotions and tension; we have been good to recover when we were down 2-0 with a great team like Cuneo. In any case I am happy because, even if we missed a huge chance, once again we did play at the same level of the first team of the standing”.
