Italian national team captain middle blocker Emanuele Birarelli signed with Calzedonia Verona for next 2017/2018 season, coming back in Veneto’s city after the 2006/2007 season. Arriving from Sir Safety Conad Perugia, , Birarelli is a veteran with plenty of successes in his career, 4 italian Championships, 3 Italian Cups, 2 Supercups, 4 World Championships for Club, and 3 Champions Leagues.
As italian national team captain, birarelli won bronze Medal at 2012 Olympics in London, and silver medal at 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Approaching this brand new adventure, Birarelli said: “I have great feelings, I’m very happy of this choice. I think this will be the right situation for me, I will play with an ambitious team, who did good things in past seasons. I’m thankful with the club who gave me the opportunity to be here”.
In nazionale dal 2008, Birarelli ha fatto parte delle spedizioni azzurre che hanno conquistato il bronzo olimpico a Londra 2012 e l’argento alle Olimpiadi di Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Birarelli: “Ho delle bellissime sensazioni e sono molto contento di essere qui a Verona che per me é stata la prima scelta. Credo che per me sia la situazione giusta, perché mi trovo in una società ambiziosa e che in questi ultimi anni ha fatto davvero bene.
