Gi Group Monza clinched the Playoff Challenge Final Four spot, by winning on the road at PalaPoli in Molfetta, Quarterfinal Game 4 on Exprivia. It was a great game for Miguel Angel Falasca’s team, strong in winning first two sets, especially the second, won at the extras 29-27. Simon Hirsch was great in first two sets for Monza (in the end 25 points for him), together with Christian Fromm (16 total points for the german), but in third Molfetta fought back with Joao Rafael, Bogdan Olteanu and Giulio Sabbi, who drove Exprivia to an important 25-20 win in third set. But in fourth Gi Group stepped up, starting with a couple of important breaks, taking the lead on 15-8 nd never look back, winning in the end set and match 25-17, clinching the Playoff Challenge Final Four spot, together with Calzedonia Verona, Lpr Piacenza and Bunge Ravenna. Miguel Angel Falasca’s team will face Lpr Piacenza in the semifinal.
Simon Hirsch (Gi Group Monza): “Never been easy to play in Molfetta, we were good to close the match in last set and clinch the Final Four spot. They were strong all game long, especially with Sabbi and Olteanu, but in the end we grabbed the win, we are very happy for this”.
Alberto Polo (Exprivia Molfetta): “We lost, we have some regrets for this, this is the end of our season. It was an high and lows game, some of us weren’t in perfect shape, and we paid the price. Our fans as usual were great, I hope we will continue to play in this great arena”.
