As in the first round, the first victory of the second round for Cisterna Volley came again against Sonepar Padova, providing an intense show at the Kioene Arena. The match, which lasted almost two hours, was only resolved in a tie-break, crowning the efforts of coach Falasca’s team. Despite some reception difficulties in the first and fourth sets, Cisterna Volley was able to excel in the fundamental aspect of blocking, totaling 18 point blocks compared to 10 for the Venetians. If Padova proved to be more incisive on serve, with 8 aces in total, the Pontini team compensated with greater continuity in attack, orchestrated by the masterful direction of Michele Baranowicz.
Among the protagonists, stands out Aleksandar Nedeljkovic, Cisterna Volley’s best scorer with 15 points and an exceptional 62% efficiency in attack. The Serbian central defender was also the best in blocking, with 7 point blocks, consolidating his lead in the Credem Banca Super League in this specialty. Alongside him, Daniele Mazzone delivered a top-level performance, scoring 10 points with an impressive 86% in attack and contributing 4 blocks of his own. Theo Faure and Jordi Ramon scored 13 points each, contributing to the Pontini’s excellent performance in attack.
