After a battle against a renowned team like Rana Verona who, ambitious to obtain a final fourth place in the championship play-off grid, made no concessions, Gioiella Prisma only surrendered at the tie break (21-25, 31-19, 27-25, 17-25, 12-15)

The verdict from the field is very bitter, in fact the simultaneous victory at the tie break in Monza decrees the relegation of the Ionian cub.

Five years, an extraordinary journey made of sweat, sacrifices and unforgettable moments. Gioiella Prisma Taranto, after three salvations conquered with the heart and a dream promotion, today sees the curtain fall on its adventure in the Super League.

It’s not just a relegation. It is the end of an era, a goodbye that smacks of nostalgia and gratitude. Because in these five years PalaMazzola has experienced very strong emotions: the joy of a promotion built with determination, the battles won against more famous opponents, the salvations won with tooth and nail. Every sweaty point, every impossible defense, every attack that made the fans explode: these are memories that no one will be able to erase.

Prisma fought until the end, but the field gave its verdict. Yet, in the pain of this moment, the awareness of having written an important page in the history of Tarantino volleyball remains. A club that has shown that it can compete with the best, that has given everything without ever giving up.

Now, with the same passion and determination, we look ahead. Every end is a new beginning, and this team has already shown that it knows how to rise again.

Thanks, Prisma. For making us dream. For making us believe that nothing is impossible. For fighting until the end. Your spirit never recedes.

The words of General Director Vito Primavera:

“It’s difficult to take stock at the moment. In the heat of the moment, we are all excited and sorry. We had a fantastic first half of the season, finishing with ten points and placing ourselves in fourth-to-last place. Then, in the second half of the season, we had a decline and we weren’t able to manage the difficulties. At the end, however, we managed to get back on track, winning against Monza and playing a great match tonight, even if unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

This relegation hurts terribly, especially after five years, also considering the promotion. We have experienced incredible battles and equally extraordinary salvations. It is a great disappointment, especially for President Bongiovanni and Dr. Zelatore, who did not deserve this epilogue. This is a relegation accrued by the slightest difference, only due to the number of victories. Now it is right that we all assume our responsibilities. We had a good lead, but we couldn’t keep it.”
