In view of the key phase of the season, Delta Group Porto Viro supports its attack with a profile of great international experience, capable of managing even the hottest balls. Finnish opposite Urpo Sivula, born in 1988, 195 centimeters tall, arrives at coach Morato’s court. For the new black and fuchsia signing it is a return to Italy, albeit many years later: in 2009/2010 he played in Serie A1 with Gabeca Monza, the following season in A2 in Cavriago.
Originally from Kuru, a village located about 250 kilometers north of Helsinki, Sivula is a true volleyball legend in Finland. With the national team he played 258 matches, playing two World Cups (2014, 2018), eight European Championships (from 2007 to 2021) and 11 editions of the World League. Furthermore, from 2006 to today he has been a protagonist in various European cups with club teams. On his CV, he can boast 108 appearances and 1227 points scored in all CEV competitions, while his score in our Serie A is 553 balls put on the ground in 65 regular season matches.
Skilled in every fundamental, Sivula excelled as a spiker in the first part of his career. His senior career began at Kuortaneen Urheiluopisto, where he remained for two seasons, obtaining promotion from the third to the second series of the Finnish championship. After his time in the youth selections, at just 18 years old he also received his first call up to the senior national team from the then Technical Commissioner Mauro Berruto.
