After the success of the first leg in four sets, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia also repeats itself in the return Quarter Finals of the CEV Champions League, beating Mint Vero Volley Monza with the same score in front of the home crowd at Pala Barton Energy. The Italian derby is thus won by Angelo Lorenzetti’s Block Devils who, in this way, earn the pass to the Final Four in Lodz (Poland) where the final phase of the competition will be played from 16 to 18 May. The opponent in the Semifinal for the Umbrians is the Turkish team Halkbank Ankara, who in the Quarter Finals had the better of PGE Project Warszwa, accessing the final act thanks to the victory in the Golden Set.

On the evening that guarantees Perugia access to the Final Four, the home team starts off strong, directing the set with Ishikawa’s pipe (17-12), winning it with Giannelli’s block on Di Martino. The second set is the one that allows Monza to believe in a comeback, with the Brianza team winning 23-25, but the third set (25-14) is a black and white monologue, with Plotnytskyi’s ace that is worth access to the Final Four in Lodz. In the fourth set, which has no bearing on qualification, both coaches mix up the cards on the table: the result is a balanced partial and decided only on advantages, with Ishikawa’s hand out that puts the final word (31-29 the score) on the match.
